"Automated Surveillance & Targeted Killing in Gaza" with Sophia Goodfriend, Khalil Dewan, Matt Mahmoudi. Moderated by Matthias Monroy
The discussion will reveal how advancements in AI are redefining the kill chain and expanding the roles of private actors in lethal operations beyond traditional battlefields. Key themes include the individualization and privatization of warfare, raising critical questions about accountability and the shifting parameters of who can be legitimately targeted in resistance.
Matt Mahmoudi will describe how Gaza has gone from being the world’s largest open-air prison to an open-air exposition for technologies of violence.
Sophia Goodfriend unpacks the genesis and impact of Israel’s AI-powered targeting in Gaza.
Khalil Dewan explores Israel's targeting practices through the perspectives of those subjected to targeted killings.

PERFORMANCE · "The User and the Beast" with Joana Moll
The performance explores how HTTP cookies (ad tech) surveil and capitalize on users and their data. This lecture performance delves into the increasingly imbalanced exchange of information between users and organizational networks. Through ongoing online interactions and the mechanization of gestures, users’ physical selves are subtly yet sharply compressed, while their presence in the virtual world expands. This shift significantly amplifies the power and influence of companies that exploit and profit from this dynamic.

⏰ 19.30h - 20.30h
(un)real data ☁️ – (🧊)real effects
Book presentation with !Mediengruppe Bitnik and Felix Stalder
📍ProQM ► Almstadtstraße 48-50, 10119 Berlin
🔗 https://pro-qm.de/event/unreal-data-real-effects
(un)real data ☁️ – (🧊)real effects explores the inherent ambiguity of data as an opportunity to not only describe the world but strategically intervene in it. Is it possible to create specific real-world outcomes by modifying our data streams? Can we intentionally produce data to interact with an algorithmic environment that is opaque, elusive and at the same time all-encompassing?
In this book, the authors and artists explore the production of unreal data as acts of resistance and opposition, and as attempts to carve out small and often temporary spaces of agency and autonomy when faced with systems that seem to leave little room for imagination and choice.

🖥🌐 AFTER NETWORKS
⏰ 14:30 – 16:30, 17 April 2025
📍 RWTH Aachen University – Super C, Templergraben 57, Aachen, 52062
On Thursday, Tatiana Bazzichelli will be speaking in a roundtable discussion at RWTH Aachen University as part of the workshop “After Networks: reframing scale, reimagining connections." In times when the ‘extinction internet’ notion has been claimed from a “platform-in-the-age-climate-collapse perspective” (Lovink, 2024), which other telecommunication infrastructures could be developed in this current configuration? How can a more nourishing sense of community be recreated beyond the social disintegration naturalized on social media?

✋ NO. THE EXHIBITION
⏰ 17:00, 25 April 2025
📍 Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, Mariannenplatz 2, 10997 Berlin
The title of the project sounds purposefully radical. “Нет”, the Russian word for ‘no’, is a symbol of disobedience, born out of ten years of resilience, stubbornness and the will to fight. Saying 'no' is a fundamental and inviolable human right that is denied to many people around the world today, including those in Russia. The mere word 'no' can lead to arrest or imprisonment in some countries. It can cost lives. The exhibition brings together the voices of those who, against all odds, continue to dare to say no.
The exhibition is curated by an international team of independent & critical journalists and artists who were forced to leave Russia in 2014 and co-founded Meduza, a Riga-based news outlet in Russian and English.
The exhibition will continue to run from 26 April through 6 July 2025.
