I’ve learned to limit who I allow to get close to me. I spent a long time struggling with abandonment. I let everyone in with open arms, but I’ve been hurt deeply by people I trusted the most as a result. If you’re new, and I seem cold, it’s a defense mechanism, it’s not personal. It will take me a while to warm up to you. I’ll still be friendly and fun, but everyone starts at an arms length.
