Constable P.K. Singh of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) was apprehended by Pakistani forces after inadvertently crossing the international border into Pakistan.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred near the Jaloke Dona area, where Singh, during a routine patrol, mistakenly entered Pakistani territory. Upon crossing, he was intercepted and detained by the Pakistan Rangers. Items recovered from him included his service weapon, ammunition, and other equipment. Such incidents, while rare, highlight the challenges faced by border personnel operating in areas where the boundary is not always clearly demarcated. Efforts are typically made through established communication channels between the two nations to resolve such situations.

Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) has clarified that it has not suspended any bilateral agreements with India. During the summoning of Pakistan’s chargé d'affaires by India, no official communication regarding the suspension or abeyance of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) was conveyed. However, Pakistan has stated that if India chooses to place the IWT in abeyance, Islamabad reserves the right to reciprocate by reconsidering its own commitments under key bilateral agreements, including the Simla Agreement.
