Others use it to find people who meet certain physical criteria in photo libraries, often for advertisements. Or in security, to more easily find someone in a database. In China, where facial recognition abounds, surveillance cameras have been equipped with software to track the movements of ethnic minorities.
The field continues to evolve and it is difficult to know what companies, states and individuals will do. Because the use of this software is delicate: researchers and companies agree that it could promote discrimination, which runs the risk of complicating its development.
