CITES- Convention
- It stands for the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
- It is as an international agreement aimed at ensuring “that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival”.
- It was drafted at a meeting of the members of the IUCN in 1963.
- The Convention is legally binding on the Parties.
- India is a signatory to and has also ratified CITES convention in 1976.

- Forest area has declined all across the world in the past three decades. The world lost 178 mha of forest since 1990,
- The rate of forest loss in 2015-2020 declined to an estimated 10 million hectares (mha), down from 12 million hectares (mha) in 2010-2015.

- It is divided into spectrum usage charges(around 3-5% and licensing fees(around 8%).
- Charges are calculated based on all revenues earned by a telco – including non-telecom related sources such as deposit interests and asset sales.
(As per DoT and Supreme Court judgement)

- Habitat - evergreen forests / semi-evergreen/moist deciduous forests
- Found mainly in Western Ghats and surroundings in southern India , in particular in the Wayanad – Nagarhole – Mudumalai – Bandipur complex.
