Sauropods
News: Researchers from the Geological Survey of India have identified fossil bone fragments of 100-million-years old sauropods.
Location: area around West Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya.
Key features of Sauropods
1. Dinosaurs that had very long necks, long tails
2. small heads relative to the rest of their body
3. four thick, pillar-like legs.
4. They are notable for the enormous sizes attained by some species.
5. Meghalaya is the fifth state in India to report Sauropod bones which have titanosaurian affinity.
- In India, the sauropods generally belong to the titanosaurian clade.

Crocidura narcondamica
- It is a new species of insectivorous mammal, a white-toothed shrew .
- Discovered by the scientists from the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI)
Location: Narcondam Island of the Andaman and Nicobar group of islands.
Key features:
- Shrews are small and mouse-like mammals.
- live in sub-leaf stratum in the
forests.
- Insects are the primary diet of these animals.
- This new species has a distinct external morphology with darker grey dense fur with a thick, darker tail compared to other species of the Crocidura genus.
- Its craniodental characters also make them distinct.

- It is a financial instrument for making donations to political parties.
- issued in multiples of Rs. 1,000, Rs. 10,000, Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 1 crore without any maximum limit.
- State Bank of India is authorised to issue and encash these bonds.
- The bonds are available for purchase by any person (who is a citizen of India or incorporated or established in India)
- Donor’s name is not mentioned on the bond.

- Ottawa Declaration(1996) lists the following countries as Members of the Arctic Council:
Canada, the Kingdom of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, the Russian Federation, Sweden and the United States.

These include:
1.Maratha military architecture in Maharashtra.
2.Hire Benkal megalithic site in Karnataka.
3.Bhedaghat-Lametaghat of Narmada Valley in Madhya Pradesh.
4.Ganga ghats in Varanasi.
5.temples of Kancheepuram.
6.Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.
With the addition of these six sites, the UNESCO has 48 proposals in tentative list of India.

- Indian Navy recently hosted ‘GMS-21’ under the aegis of Naval War College, Goa.
- The event for the first time was hosted in virtual mode, with online participation of Naval representatives from 13 Indian Ocean Littoral countries.
- It included India, Bangladesh, Comoros, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
- The theme for GMS-21 was focused on “Maritime Security and Emerging Non-Traditional Threats: A Case for Proactive Role for IOR Navies.”

- The annual MPLADS fund entitlement per MP constituency is Rs. 5 crore.

- It is a quasi-judicial body in India adjudicating issues concerning companies in the country.
- It was formed on June 1, 2016, as per the provisions of the Companies Act 2013.
- Formed based on the recommendations of the Justice Eradi Committee that was related to insolvency and winding up of companies in India.
- Appeals: Decisions taken by the NCLT can be appealed to the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).
- The decisions of the NCLAT can be appealed to the Supreme Court on a point of law.
