It erupted from at least two vents inside its deep summit crater after a two-year break.
Location: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Key points:
1. It is one of the world’s most active volcanoes

News: A major ammonia gas leakag at the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited unit at Prayagraj.
Key points about Ammonia:
1. It is stored for industrial use in liquid form under high.
2. pressure or in gaseous form at low temperature.
3. It is the tri-hydroid of nitrogen (NH3)
4. It causes irritation to eyes, skin, nose and throat.
5. It affects the lungs and may cause chemical pneumonitis, lung inflammation caused by aspirating or inhaling irritants.

News: The government plans to set up a DFI
Aim: To mobilise the funding for the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP).
Background:
- The first DFI was operationalised in 1948 with the setting up of the IFCI Ltd.
- India had DFIs which were primarily engaged in development of industry in the country.
- ICICI and IDBI were DFIs.
Significance:
1. A DFI is needed for promoting infrastructure funding.
2. It provide funding and enhance credit rating of projects.

Background :This giant iceberg is the biggest block of free-floating ice that split off from Antarctica’s Larsen C ice shelf in 2017.
- US National Ice Center is responsible for naming icebergs.

1. Icebergs travel with ocean currents and either get caught up in shallow waters or ground.
2. It could cause disruption to the local wildlife that forages in the ocean.
3. It carries dust which fertilizes ocean plankton, which draws up CO2 from the atmosphere.

1. Around 783 km of highways will be developed.
2. States of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
3. Eco-friendly and safe technology designs.
4. It will support analytics to map the freight volume and movement pattern on the NH network

6. will generate employment for women by training women-led micro-enterprises.

- UGC has set up a 7 member committee headed by R P Tiwari.
- Aim: It will consider the issue of holding common entrance test at undergraduate (UG) level.
- Implements: From the next academic year in central universities to provide a single platform for admission.
- The new National Education Policy NEP advocates reducing the number of entrance tests.
Procedure:
- Conduct a common aptitude test as well as specialised common exams for different disciplines.
- Tests at least twice a year

Background: It was inducted in 2014 in the Air Force and in 2015 in the Indian Army.

In News: Prime Minister has inaugurated a part of Eastern DFC in Uttar Pradesh.
Rooted in 2006
Aim: To generate substantial capacity for freight traffic by developing separate tracks on identified route.
Develop by: DFC Corporation of India Ltd a special purpose vehicle of the railways.
Funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency.
Key features:
1. It is a broad-gauge railway corridor exclusively for freight transportations.
2. It is from Ludhiana in Punjab to Dankuni in West Bengal.
3. Covers the States of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
