There is nothing fancy about being a career trader. It is a job for grinders and problem solvers. Anthony's rabbit hole is different from mine, but only by going deep into a rabbit hole and every false branch does one find a path. It takes 3 to 5 years to pick up a scent, and decades to really work through the processes needed to be profitable year after year (full disclosure - I've had four losing years, worst of which was -13.5%)

I’ve always considered myself a blue collar trader. I was never the smartest, never the richest, and never the best and I never tried to be any of those things. I just got really good at short term scalping, stuck with it, and kept pushing myself. Testing my limits.

I reached places I never thought I’d get to financially, and then pushed even harder. But it wasn’t without setbacks both financial and physical.

Every time I made a bunch of money without a clear plan, I’d set myself back with a big loss or blow it on something stupid.

When my only goal was to stay in the game, that’s when I made money consistently.

When I focused on protecting my capital and became more self aware in high pressure moments, I started to thrive. And when I began to invest in my own well being and approached life with more thoughtfulness, I was able to make the shift to swing trading when scalping became too much to handle.

For nearly 20 years, I was trading hundreds and even thousands of E-minis each day. Eventually, I hit burnout mentally and physically. The money was still there, just less of it. And that was okay. I accepted it and pivoted, because at the end of the day, I’m still a blue collar trader. I just want to exist.

You can do incredible things in trading without chasing incredible things.
