Just released! A fantastic piece by Peter Bauman in Le Random who created a “framework for appreciating and evaluating generative art” drawing from interviews with Casey Reas, Zach Lieberman, Harvey Rayner, and Ania and Dejha of Operator. https://t.co/K9nxTRJR6g
Le Random
Demystifying Generative Art
Peter Bauman (Monk Antony) develops a framework for appreciating and analyzing generative art—art using autonomous systems in the vein of Sol LeWitt or Yoko Ono—through an investigation of the movement’s locus of artistic intent.

“Combining a fascinating conceptual basis, a strong aesthetic and a raw human energy, this work has captured the imagination of the art world across both the traditional and digital spheres.”

Our Human Unreadable installation during the opening night of "Exploring the Decentralized Web: Art on the Blockchain" HeK Basel.
As a way to bring the public into the process of creating Human Unreadable, we created several touchpoints: the audience-participants were able to try movements, a dancer performed the individual movements from the movement library live (*not sequences*), collectors could find their choreographic hash on a scroll to uncover their sequence with our custom choreographic card deck, select large scale prints were displayed, and one wall was covered in a hand drawn illustration of our entire on-chain generative choreography method.
On view until 12 November in Basel.
Curated by Boris Magrini and Sabine Himmelsbach
Performer: Sophie Vergères
Prints on view: Human Unreadable #19, #121, #222
Acrylic output & choreographic score: Human Unreadable #272
