Joint Secretary (MHA J&K Division) Prashant Lokhande says the 14 Nov Nowgam blast was an accidental explosion during the handling of a huge cache of recovered explosives linked to FIR 162/2025 in a terror-module case.
The material, unstable and sensitive, was being examined as per SOPs when it accidentally detonated around 11:20 PM.

All agencies are conducting a scientific investigation, and the government stands with the families of the deceased.

"If detonators were involved, it is highly unlikely to be an accidental blast. Detonators are purpose-specific triggering devices, and their presence generally indicates deliberate activation rather than an unintentional explosion.”
