India to Conduct Census 2027

The Government announced that the next Census of India will be held in two phases, Union MoS Home Nityanand Rai informed Rajya Sabha.

Phase 1 – Houselisting
• Housing conditions, amenities and household assets
• Head of household recorded as Male, Female or Transgender

Phase 2 – Population Enumeration
• Detailed data of every individual

This will be India’s first national census since 2011.

US launches ‘unfair’ trade probe into India & 15 other countries

The Donald Trump administration launched a new trade investigation into excess industrial capacity among 16 major trading partners.

It's viewed as a move aimed at rebuilding tariff pressure after the US Supreme Court struck down the centrepiece of Trump’s tariff programme last month.

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the Section 301 unfair trade practices investigation could lead to new tariffs by this summer.

The list of countries included in this probe:
India, China, the European Union, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Switzerland and Norway.

Iran lets 2 Indian tankers pass through Hormuz

Iran has allowed India-flagged tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz after talks at the foreign minister level, keeping the critical sea route open for the transport of crude oil and natural gas.

Indian tankers Pushpak and Parimal were passing safely through the Hormuz, though ships from the US, Europe, and Israel continue to face restrictions.
