How will a social media ban for under-16 work in just one state?
Apps like Instagram, Facebook and X work acroos the whole country, so applying rules for only one state will be very dificult.
People can easily bypass it using VPN or by changeing their location settings.
Internet rules in India are mostly handled by the central goverment, not individual states, so there may also be legal isues.
Without a proper age verifcation system, enforcing this only in Karnataka may be very hard and could end up more simbolic than practical.
So this look just gimmick?

▪ Speculation is circulating that a new Union Territory may be carved out from parts of Bihar and West Bengal, following Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to Kishanganj.
▪ According to rumours, the proposed UT could include Saharsa, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia and Katihar (Bihar) along with Malda and Uttar Dinajpur (West Bengal).
▪ The region lies close to the strategically vital Siliguri Corridor (“Chicken’s Neck”), which connects mainland India to the Northeast.
▪ The discussion is often linked to border security, illegal migration and demographic concerns in districts near the Bangladesh border.
▪ No official confirmation has been issued by the Government of India. Any such move would require Parliamentary approval.

Indian Navy statement on the sinking of Iranian warship IRIS Dena
Government Sources- "Days before the IRIS Dena incident south of Sri Lanka, India was approached by Iran to take in the Iranian Ship IRIS Lavan, which was also in the region for the International Fleet Review. This request was received on 28 February 2026, indicating that a docking at Kochi was urgent as the vessel had developed technical issues. Approval was accorded for the docking on 1 March. IRIS Lavan has since docked at Kochi on 4 March. In this context, its crew of 183 are currently accommodated at naval facilities in Kochi."
