AI represents a "third way" of gathering knowledge.
Historically, humans gained knowledge through faith/religion and later through science.

AI generates knowledge by processing large data patterns that do not originate from human thinking, representing a civilizational shift in how societies and governments operate.
India is currently in a race to close the technological gap with developed nations.
Now compares India’s current situation to Germany before World War I. Just as Germany used existing innovations from Britain and France to rapidly over-industrialize, India should use the AI tools developed by the US and China as a base to reach the next level.

Challenge of Techno-Feudalism where a few digital companies dominate the world by capturing data and turning users into mere algorithmic outputs.
A major question for India is whether it can maintain "Data Sovereignty" and protect its users' data from being consumed by foreign algorithms.

Instead of competing directly in consumer applications (like ChatGPT) where the US and China are already ahead, India is carving out a niche
The strategic vision is to champion "AI for National Security." By fusing government intelligence and military technology, India aims to create practical, input-based models using live data from its volatile fronts (China, Pakistan, and the Indian Ocean).

'Public interest': Supreme Court says plea to ban freebies by political parties will be heard by 3-judge bench "Only sun and moon are left to promise; these are corrupt practices," the petitioner told the Court. The matter was mentioned before a Bench of…
The Supreme Court has strongly criticised the distribution of “freebies” by political parties of all states and expressed concern over its impact on public finances.
The Court has said that instead of distributing resources by freebie schemes, the political parties should come up with planned policies that would offer schemes to improve the lives of people such as unemployment schemes.

“The economic development of the nation will be hampered with this kind of largesse distribution Yes, it is the State’s duty to provide. But the ones who are enjoying freebies.. is it not something that should be looked at?” Chief Justice of India Surya Kant verbally observed.

The CJI further observed, “States are running into deficit but still giving freebies. See, 25 percent of revenue you collect in a year, why it cannot be used for development of the State?”

The Court clarified that the issue was not confined to any one State but all States in the country.

🇮🇳 India’s Judicial Backlog — Early 2026

As of early 2026, India’s judicial pendency remains among the largest in the world.

According to the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) and official court dashboards:
🔢 Total Pending Cases
⚖️ 50+ million cases pending across all levels of courts.

🏛️ Court-wise Breakdown
🏢 ~47 million in District/Subordinate Courts (≈90% of total)
🏛️ 6+ million in High Courts
🇮🇳 80,000–90,000 in the Supreme Court

Nearly 9 out of 10 cases are stuck at the district level — making lower judiciary reform India’s biggest justice bottleneck.

This is not just a backlog.
It is a structural governance challenge.

🇮🇳 India’s Judicial Backlog — Part 2

What Types of Cases Are Pending?

According to the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), out of the 50+ million pending cases:

🔴 Criminal Cases — ~37–38 Million
(≈75% of total pendency)
Includes:
IPC & police charge-sheet cases
Bail applications
Sessions trials
Cheque bounce (NI Act) cases
Motor accident claims
Criminal matters dominate the backlog, especially in district courts.

🔵 Civil Cases — ~11–12 Million
(≈25% of total pendency)
Major categories:
🏠 Land & property disputes (largest civil contributor)
👨‍👩‍👧 Family & matrimonial cases
💼 Contract & money recovery suits
🏢 Service matters
📜 Writ petitions (mainly in High Courts)
Civil cases are fewer in number — but many are long-pending, particularly land disputes.

📌 Structural Insight
• Criminal cases dominate in volume.
• Land & property disputes dominate in duration.

The backlog reflects deeper systemic issues in policing, land administration, and trial efficiency — not just court capacity.
