🇵🇰Masood Azhar Forms Jaish's Women Brigade Months After Loss In Op Sindoor

Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), which suffered a crippling blow during Operation Sindoor, has stepped up efforts to revive its footprint, including in India, and announced the formation of its first ever women's wing.

The Masood Azhar-led terror group, which has traditionally barred women from participating in armed or combat missions, on Wednesday announced a shift in strategy through the formation of "Jamaat-ul-Mominaat", recruitment for which began at Markaz Usman-o-Ali in Bahawalpur.

Sources said the wing will be led by United Nations-designated terrorist Masood Azhar's sister Sadiya Azhar, whose husband Yusuf Azhar was killed after the Indian forces struck JeM's headquarters at Markaz Subhanallah during Operation Sindoor.

SC to hear AIMIM chief’s plea to extend the six-month deadline for registration of waqf on UMEED

The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to list a plea seeking an extension of the deadline for the mandatory registration of all waqf properties, including waqf-by-user lands, on the central UMEED portal.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice B R Gavai took note of the request made by advocate Nizam Pasha, appearing for AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. Pasha pointed out that the amended Waqf law had fixed a six-month period for completing registration, but “five months went by during the judgment, we now only have one month left.”
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who was present in the courtroom in connection with another matter, objected to the mentioning of the application, saying the Centre should first be informed. The CJI responded, “Let it be listed; listing does not mean granting (the relief).”

Supreme Court overturns death sentence of Chennai techie accused of raping, murdering minor
In 2017, a 7-year-old girl from Madhanandhapuram near Porur was sexually assaulted, murdered, and burnt by her neighbour, techie Dhasvanth. Initially arrested under the Goondas Act, he was later released on bail, after which he murdered his mother over financial issues and fled with her jewellery. His father, who had earlier supported him, disowned him, calling his bail a fatal mistake.

A Chengalpattu Mahila Court sentenced Dhasvanth to death, and the Madras High Court upheld it. However, the Supreme Court, led by Justice Vikram Nath, quashed both verdicts, citing insufficient evidence, unclear CCTV footage, and inconclusive DNA results. Granting the benefit of the doubt, the court acquitted Dhasvanth and ordered his immediate release.
