New Delhi is experiencing an air emergency, with December’s average AQI at 349—the highest since 2018.
An Air Quality Index (AQI) of 349 is roughly equivalent to smoking 15 to 16 cigarettes per day for an average adult.

The Formula: One cigarette per day is roughly equivalent to a 24-hour exposure of 22 μg/m³ of PM2.5.

An AQI of 349 corresponds to a PM2.5 concentration significantly higher than 250 μg/m³, which equates to more than 15 cigarettes in a 24-hour period.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday said “tensions between India and Pakistan” were among the list of hotspot issues mediated by China this year.

“Following this Chinese approach to settling hotspot issues, we mediated in northern Myanmar, the Iranian nuclear issue, the tensions between Pakistan and India, the issues between Palestine and Israel, and the recent conflict between Cambodia and Thailand,” he said.

🇮🇳 DRDO conducts the launch of two Pralay missiles in rapid succession

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully conducted a salvo launch of two indigenously developed Pralay missiles in quick succession from the same launcher off the coast of Odisha.
The flight tests were carried out at around 10:30 am on December 31 as part of user evaluation trials. According to officials, both missiles precisely followed their intended trajectories and met all mission objectives.
