Tarique Zia, has finally returned to Bangladesh
India does not have personal or ideological differences with the BNP, but it does have serious concerns regarding national security.
BNP has historically rejected cultural and security cooperation with India when in power Jamaat-e-Islami views them as a vehicle to further their agenda against India, which they consider a civilizational enemy.
India is closely monitoring these developments and has maintained back-channel communication with the BNP leadership for the past several months.
First, the BNP must not support any logistical networks or camps for anti-India insurgents; India has warned that such actions would be met with necessary force, including potential surgical strikes.
As Bangladesh approaches its February elections, the situation remains highly volatile, with possibilities ranging from a fragmented power structure to the potential for military rule.
While his return is a significant development, it is important to remember the historical relationship between the BNP and India.
India does not have personal or ideological differences with the BNP, but it does have serious concerns regarding national security.
During the previous rule of Khaleda Zia, the BNP provided shelter and logistical support to anti-India insurgent groups from Northeast India, which India interpreted as a deliberate strategic tolerance of elements hostile to its interests.
Furthermore, the BNP has traditionally relied on the support of Jamaat-e-Islami, an organization whose worldview is fundamentally anti-India.
Jamaat-e-Islami opposes democracy, secularism, and nationalism, believing instead in "Hukumat-e-Ilahi" or the sovereignty of Allah, where all laws, education, and economics must follow Islamic principles.
India has established clear "red lines" for the BNP should they return to power.
First, the BNP must not support any logistical networks or camps for anti-India insurgents; India has warned that such actions would be met with necessary force, including potential surgical strikes.
Second, if the BNP forms an alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami, the latter must not use political cover to advance a radical agenda or collaborate with foreign intelligence agencies to threaten Indian security.India insists on disciplined border management and will treat any incitement near its borders as a national security trigger.
As Bangladesh approaches its February elections, the situation remains highly volatile, with possibilities ranging from a fragmented power structure to the potential for military rule.

🇧🇩 Two suspects fled to India, claim Bangladesh Police Bangladesh Police on Sunday claimed that two primary suspect in the murder of student leader Osman Hadi fled Bangladesh and entered India through Meghalaya border.
ANI | The BSF chief in Meghalaya, Inspector General O.P. Upadhyay, said the claims are completely false, fabricated, and misleading, and that there is no evidence to support them.
Just three days ago, Bangladeshi media quoted an IG-rank officer stating that no such evidence existed. Now, a DIG-level officer has made contradictory remarks. It was also alleged that the Meghalaya Police had apprehended the individuals; however, upon verification, the Meghalaya Police denied these claims.
All reports in the Bangladeshi media are incorrect. There has been no such cross-border movement from the Meghalaya sector, and even the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) has not reported any such incident. The BGB is a highly professional force.

The claim that the individuals entered India from a location nearly 300 km from Dhaka, despite extensive CCTV surveillance and multiple checkpoints in Bangladesh, is highly implausible. Therefore, the allegations are highly unlikely, completely false, and fabricated.
