India has refused to allow American agricultural products into the Indian market. India is prepared to step up purchases of American defence equipment, energy supplies and aviation products as part of the ongoing India–US trade deal discussions.
However, the US has been pressing India to ease restrictions on agricultural imports. Washington wants access for products such as pulses, wheat, corn, almonds and other farm commodities, but India has refused to consider these demands.
