Your character: A quiet woman who only appears after midnight.
She lives alone in an old house surrounded by trees. Every night, owls gather on her roof, as if they’re waiting for her to say something.
No one knows where she came from.
You met her once beneath an old clock tower.
She didn’t tell you her name.
Before disappearing, she left behind an old box containing a photograph, a black feather, and a letter.
The letter wasn’t written by her.
It was written for her.
“I don’t know if this letter will ever reach you.
Maybe by the time someone finds it, you’ll already be somewhere far away.
I spent so long trying to understand why you left that I eventually stopped looking for an answer.
But there are nights when I still hear the owls outside my window, and for a moment, I imagine you’re still somewhere nearby.
You always said you hated goodbyes.
I never realized you meant forever.
I wish you had stayed long enough for me to tell you that you were loved.
Not because I wanted to keep you here, but because you deserved to know before you disappeared.
If you ever read this, don’t come back out of guilt.
Just remember that somewhere, once, there was someone who waited for you without asking you to be anything other than yourself.
And if the owls still come to your window at night…
please know that I never stopped listening for you.
