"Albanien ist nicht zu verkaufen" – Massenproteste gegen das Luxusprojekt der Trump-Familie
Albanien ist derzeit Schauplatz vehementer Proteste gegen die Errichtung eines Luxus-Resorts an der heimischen Adriaküste. Das Projekt steht in Verbindung mit Jared Kushner, dem Schwiegersohn des US-Präsidenten, und dessen Ehefrau Ivanka Trump.
Nachdem der Projektentwickler Stacheldrahtzäune auf dem Gelände des Luxus-Resorts errichtet hatte, gingen die Bürger auf die Barrikaden. Kritiker werfen der Regierung vor, geschützte Küstengebiete für Großinvestoren zu opfern. Auch in der Hauptstadt Tirana demonstrieren Menschen unter dem Slogan "Albanien ist nicht zu verkaufen".
Das 1,6 Milliarden Dollar teure Vorhaben von Kushners Firma Affinity Partners soll die Insel Sazan sowie Teile des angrenzenden Naturschutzgebiets in ein exklusives Tourismusziel verwandeln. Umweltgruppen warnen derweil vor irreversiblen Schäden an einem der sensibelsten Ökosysteme des Landes. Die Stimmung wurde zusätzlich durch Aussagen von Ivanka Trump angeheizt. Sie hatte in einem Interview behauptet, sie und ihr Mann hätten die Insel quasi "entdeckt". Kushner hatte das Projekt bereits im Jahr 2024 im Zuge umfassenderer Pläne für die Region angekündigt.
Trotz des anhaltenden öffentlichen Widerstands hält der albanische Ministerpräsident Edi Rama an dem Projekt fest. Die Demonstranten lehnen Gespräche mit der Regierung ab und haben bereits weitere Proteste angekündigt.

Our acceptance of a ceasefire on 8 April was conditional on a cessation of fire on all fronts; however, as always, the United States and the Zionist regime did not abide by their commitments. They continued their aggressions and crimes in Lebanon and also violated the ceasefire through repeated attacks against Iranian coasts and vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman, and the Indian Ocean.

On decision to give an interview to one of the Dutch mainstream media outlets
🔹 "For a diplomat, it is extremely important to maintain dialogue with the media of the host country. At the same time, you have become the first representative from the pool of major Dutch media outlets to visit our Embassy. I know many Dutch people who are willing to consider viewpoints other than those promoted by the authorities and mainstream media, and I do not feel hostility from local people.
We have always proceeded from the principle that there may be unfriendly states, but there are no unfriendly peoples."
On the level of bilateral dialogue
🔹 "Official contacts with the Dutch authorities are currently kept to a minimum. From time to time I visit the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but such meetings are purely formal in nature and mainly concern the activities of diplomatic missions.
We strictly adhere to the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and do not discuss domestic politics with local politicians - whether elections, parliamentary processes, or aspects of the national agenda. At the same time, we closely follow developments in the Netherlands. Our conversations generally focus on the international situation, bilateral relations, and take place in the form of an exchange of views on current global events."
On the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis
🔹 "Russia advocates for a political and diplomatic resolution of the conflict and has openly stated its conditions. Their acceptance would make it possible to end hostilities in a short period of time.
Our position remains unchanged: respect for the will of the residents of Russia’s new regions, Ukraine’s neutral status, denazification, the restoration of the rights of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as well as the removal of restrictions on the use of the Russian language."
On Ukraine’s anti-Russian stance
🔹 "The course pursued by the Ukrainian authorities against Russia took shape long before 2022. Its origins go back to the events of the “orange revolution” in 2004 and subsequent developments beginning in 2014.
Within Ukrainian society, the perception was gradually formed that Ukrainians are fundamentally different from Russians. At the same time, Russia proceeds from the belief that the two peoples share common historical and cultural roots. In addition, Western countries presented Ukraine with a choice: either integration with the West in opposition to Russia, or cooperation with us at the expense of relations with the West. This became one of the causes of the current crisis."

🔹 "I watched this series. We disagree with most of its narratives. However, I would like to emphasize that nobody - absolutely nobody - interfered with his work or obstructed it. Mr. Erdbrink was free to film whatever he wished. He came here for a visa and said that he intended to make an honest series reflecting his own vision and that he did not approve of any interference. We replied: ‘Film whatever you wish.’ He was completely free in his work."
On the incitement of anti-Russian hysteria in the Netherlands
