❗️Israeli crackdown on female captives at Damon prison intensifies as reports of systematic abuse and medical neglect emerge

The Palestinian Prisoners' Society has exposed a severe escalation in systematic abuse within the Damon occupation prison by documenting at least ten violent raids against female detainees over the last two months. Testimonies from the facility describe a pattern of specialized repression units storming the sections where guards subjected women to severe beatings and forced them to remain handcuffed on the ground for extended periods. These raids have left numerous detainees with visible injuries and psychological trauma while the prison administration continues to deny them access to basic medical attention or legal oversight.

Conditions for the eighty eight women currently held at Damon have reached a critical state due to extreme overcrowding and the intensification of punitive measures across the facility. Cells designed for small groups are now packed with more than ten detainees each which has forced many to sleep on the floor without bedding or blankets. Among those facing these harsh conditions are Rima Blouei and Zahraa al-Kawazbeh, who are both being held despite being in stages of pregnancy with no access to prenatal medical care. The prison authorities have also expanded the use of solitary confinement and implemented policies that severely restrict the quality and quantity of food provided to the inmates.

The latest report further highlights the routine use of degrading strip searches and the denial of specialized care for detainees suffering from chronic illnesses such as cancer. Most of the captives are currently being held without formal charges under administrative detention based on secret files that neither the prisoners nor their lawyers are permitted to review. Human rights advocates argue that this campaign of organized violence at Damon represents a targeted effort to degrade the dignity of the detainees through institutionalized neglect.

Lebanon's Displaced Refuse to be Hidden for Tourism

Laith Marouf is joined by community activist Rand Chmaitilly, to report from Biel Beirut, where hundreds of displaced families from South Lebanon have set up tents since the Jewish Invaders destroyed their homes or made their villages unsafe. The families are under threat of forceful evacuation by the Lebanese government, who claims the refugees will harm the summer tourism season if they stay where they are.

The aftermath of the Israeli attack on the historic town of Kharayeb, a site of immense Phoenician archaeological significance in southern Lebanon.
Al-Kharayeb was a historic town in the Sidon District in the South Governorate, Lebanon which Israel destroyed. Archaeological excavation in Kharayeb and its vicinity has revealed a complex settlement landscape spanning various chronological periods, from the Prehistoric to the Ottoman era (1516–1918).

The modern town of Kharayeb dates back to the mid-19th century when it and its surroundings were owned by Nasif Al-Asaad, a resident of Zrarieh. For reasons that may have been economic or related to the feudal system of the time, ownership of Kharayeb transferred to the prominent Qaddura family of Sidon.

In 1925, during the French Mandate in Lebanon, the Qadura family began selling land parcels to the village residents. Affluent families bought lands, while the less well-to-do families pooled resources to purchase land parcels.

During the 2024 Israeli invasion of Lebanon, UNESCO gave enhanced protection to 34 cultural sites including the Kharayeb archaeological sites to safeguard them from damage. Now in 2026 the Israeli' s destroyed large parts of the city and archelogical sites..
Standing under the beautiful and fragrant jasmine, the flower of the East, the scents of the East that I have missed, the flowers, the scents of the spices, the sea and the people, their openness and hospitality, but I also feel their pain over the many wars and the invasion of the West.
