Gold and the US Dollar move in opposite directions most of the time. When the dollar strengthens, gold typically falls. When the dollar weakens, gold typically rises.
This means before you enter any gold trade, check DXY — the US Dollar Index.
If DXY is pushing higher and you want to buy gold, you're fighting two markets at once. The odds are stacked against you.
If DXY is dropping and you want to buy gold, you have the dollar working in your favour as well as your technical setup.
One extra check. Thirty seconds. Changes the quality of every trade you take on gold.
