SELF CONFIDENCE AND AMBITION
Ambition indicates lack of self-confidence!
When you know you can achieve something easily, you are not ambitious about it. You are simply confident about it. Your ambition indicates challenge and uncertainty, which is contrary to self-confidence. So one you has total self-confidence cannot be ambitious!!
At the same time a person who lacks total self-confidence cannot be ambitious either!!
For ambition to be, one must have a little bit of confidence and total ignorance of the Self.
It is next to impossible to have total confidence without Self-knowledge.
With the knowledge of the Self, there is nothing left to achieve, for the entire nature of existence is mere
play and display of one's own consciousness.
People take pride in being ambitious. The wise man will only smile at them. Ambition can never be for
something you know you can achieve effortlessly. You can only be ambitious about something for which you have to put effort, which poses a challenge and of which you are not even certain you will be able to achieve or not.
Moreover it takes away the joy of the moment.
With the Self-knowledge nothing is challenging to you, nor you need to put any effort. Nature is ready to
fulfill your intention even before they arise, giving you no chance to crave or desire. Nature does not
allow the wise to have a desire (ambition), and the unwise to fulfill or get rid of the desire (ambition).
Do you still want to be ambitious ?? Or is your only ambition is to get rid of ambition !!

Lord Krishna said to a very baffled and shocked Arjuna, who was totally shaken by the unbelievable size of the Viswaroopa :
“Nimitha Mathrum Bhava Savyasachin”
“Arjuna, become an instrument of God”

By becoming an instrument of God, we can eradicate our ego very easily and also we can eliminate our karmic debt.
What Lord Krishna has said to Arjuna is applicable to everyone and even to those who have nothing to do with Hinduism.
Only by surrendering OUR EGO, we can dealt with problems in life.
During the last chapter of the Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna again said:
" Arjuna, abandon all Dharma (duties) and just surrender unto me (the will of God). I shall personally deliver you from all bonds of Karma. Do not fear."
( BG18:66)

Friend is an enemy and an enemy is a friend

Interdependence
The body is dependent on the whole creation. In society, somebody has to make clothes, produce electricity, drill for oil. The body cannot be independent of the world. For the body, dependency is absolute. When the Spirit identifies with the body, then it gets pinched and looks for independence. Mind, intellect, ego - they all look for independence.
In looking for independence, often you get stuck in the ego and become more miserable. Most people are not aware of their dependency. When they become aware of their limitations and dependency, the desire for independence arises. Independence cannot be achieved unless you start moving from within. When you move within, you discover that you are interdependent. Individual Self/Soul/Jeeva is interdependence and in fact every wise person knows that everything is interdependent and that there is nothing like independence.
On one level dependency is a harsh reality. On another level, it is an illusion because there is nothing else but the Self. It's only when you don't feel oneness, belongingness that you want independence. The Self being non-dual, there is no question of dependence or independence. One who asks for independence is a beggar. One who knows that it is an illusion is a King. When the sense of belongingness is not well founded, then there is a volatile state in the life of a seeker. Then the ego finds some excuse to revert to smallness. It is not yet totally soaked in the totality of knowledge. As it is not used to it, the mind finds every little excuse to revert back to the ego and to be aloof and independent and separate and it would find any small fault and blow it out of proportion. Be aware of these tendencies and come what may, be strong in the commitment to the Satsang, the Path.
Q: How about self-sufficiency?

'Therefore, when I try to tell the whole truth, the difficulty is that I seem inconsistent. I am telling at the same time two things that seem contradictory. I say that truth is eternal and it is wrong to call it new; at the same time I also say that truth is always new and there is no sense in calling it old. When I say both of these things together, I am attempting to catch the whole truth at once in its complete fullness. Whenever truth is told in its fullness, in its multiple meanings, then opposing, inconsistent statements will have to be made. Mahavira’s theory of syatavada is only an attempt at balancing the opposing views. Against whatever is said in the first sentence an opposite statement will have to be made in the second sentence. In this way, the opposite, which would otherwise remain unsaid, is also included and comprehended.
If the opposite is left out, the truth will remain incomplete. Therefore, all truths that appear clear and unambiguous are really half-truths. Inconsistency is inherent in truth, and that is its beauty and its complexity. But its power lies in the inclusion of polar opposites.
It is interesting to note that something false cannot include its opposite. That which is false can live only at the opposite pole of a truth, while truth absorbs within itself its own opposite. That is why falsity is not very ambiguous; it is clear.
Life as a whole is founded on polar opposites. In life there is nothing that occurs without the struggle of opposites, but we try with our minds and our reasoning to eliminate the inconsistencies. Our reasoning is an attempt to become consistent while the total will appear inconsistent. In existence, all inconsistencies are there together. Death and life are bound together.'

Ego And Self From A Different Angle
Ego is that something, which has two aspects – the positive and the negative. The creativity in you – are the results of ego. At the same time, when you break down communication, when you isolate yourself, when you’re in tears, when you’re stressed – that is also ego. We do not know about the ego, and so we don’t pay much attention to it. But just 2-3 facts, awareness of how ego works !
The self – the basis of life! You can call it the spirit, the soul, consciousness, the source of the mind – anything. It is that something, which doesn’t change in one’s whole life. After discovering about all these levels, what is left is the Self.
Everything is changing, isn’t it? Do you notice this?
Just look at yourself in the mirror and then look at your picture taken a few months or a few years ago. Isn’t there a big difference?
Your body is changing, your thoughts are changing, the mind is changing, emotions are changing, situations are changing… But still you feel there is something in me which is not changing. So that something which is the basis of all change, that something through which you notice the change is the self – the atma, the spirit. It is the most amazing aspect of our lives. Just a glimpse of it, a dip into your spirit energizes our whole system – and that is what meditation is.
Spirituality is the skill of nurturing, purifying and blossoming one’s all levels of existence.

A person started to walk on a rope tied between two tall towers at several hundred feet above the ground. He is slowly walking balancing a long stick in his hands. He has his son sitting on his shoulders.
Everyone down were watching him in bated breath and were tensed. He slowly reached the second tower. Everyone clapped, whistled and welcomed him. They shook hands and took selfies.
He asked the crowd "do you all think I can walk back on the same rope now from this side to that side?". Crowd shouted "Yes, Yes, you can". Do you trust me he asked. They said yes, yes we are ready to bet on you.
He said okay, can any one of you sit on my shoulder; I will take you to the other side safely.
Everyone became quite. There was stunned silence.
Belief is different. Trust is different. For Trust you need total surrender.
This is what we are lacking towards God in today's world.
The problem today is most of us believe in God but don't trust Him.
