Introducing Telegram Search Engine 🎉
TSE is a telegram crawler you can build other projects on top of.
Out of the box it comes with:
✅ Channel discovery — keyword "phone" and it will search using that or give it a seed channel -> link-graph crawling (follows mentions, forwards) that snowballs seeds into thousands of channels
✅ AI analysis — a local LLM classifies every channel, writes a summary, no API keys.
✅ Real search — typo-tolerant, relevance-ranked search (Meilisearch)
✅ Quality scoring — channels ranked by activity, content quality, network influence (PageRank) & freshness
✅ Community graph — an interactive, Obsidian-style map of how channels reference each other.
🐳 Self-hosted & open source — one docker (Postgres + search + API + UI).
The live demo explores a frozen snapshot of tech-community channels as a proof of concept.

free AI models you can actually use in your workflows (generous free tiers)
every genuinely-free model and API in one place, ranked by community votes. each row: how to use it, how it performs, the free limits, and the catch. no paywalls, no shared keys, no trial traps.
no login to browse or vote, just one vote per model per device.
sort and filter to pull up the free coding tools and see what's actually usable.
> spot one that's missing? add it.

a bunch of you asked how to actually get more out of AI without paying for everything.

How much of your code does AI write for you?
Preparing a series on AI-driven development. before i start, want to know where you're at. -> talking about writing syntax, building features, fixing bugs. not architecture, not decision making.

☝️if you voted that you still code mostly by hand with autocomplete and copy-paste, this is for you. you can get way more out of AI.
weavy.ai: every AI model on one node-based canvas
been using this for logo work and photo edits and it fixed the thing that annoys me about every AI image tool: iterating in a chat thread. version 4 overwrites version 2, and if the model went the wrong direction 3 steps ago, good luck.
weavy works like a tree. every output is a node you can branch from. don't like where this path went? go back two nodes and pivot, send that same output to a different model.
and that's the real win, you pick the model per job:
- logos: Recraft
- extending an image past its borders: the outpaint node with Flux Fill
- upscaling: Topaz (yes, on the free plan)
it does video too (Kling, Veo, Sora, Runway).
figma just acquired it, so it's not disappearing anytime soon. i do maybe 17 images a month and the free plan covers me fine.
Update: 150 monthly credits = 375 images for free

Better Auth is joining Vercel! Thank you everyone who has been part of this journey in so many different ways 🙏 More to come! Excited for what’s ahead ❤️
Much respect to @bekacru_c and @kinfishfarms
One of my recent employers told me he'd worked with Bereket and Kinfish before. They put Ethiopian devs on the map, and that's the reason he came looking to hire more of us.
They opened the door for me and a lot of others, directly and indirectly.
Happy for you guys. You earned every bit of this. Thank you.

Are you looking to trade ETB p2p?
The two platforms actually worth using right now are NoOnes and BingX.
https://noones.com
https://fiat.bingx.com
The buy/sell gap on both used to be really high, like 10 birr, so it wasn't a good time to trade on them. Now it's down to about 1-4 birr, though it's still volatile. So don't default to one, open both, compare the offers, and take whichever is better at that moment.
And I won't encourage you to hold your crypto on either of these. Just trade, then move it somewhere else like Binance.

I also trade a limited amount myself, around 500-1k USD a month. When the gap is too high and the buy/sell prices are wide, I come in the middle and give you a better rate. DM me if you want to trade.

Blue light glasses are a scam.
About to buy an expensive pair to "protect your eyes"? don't. there's no real evidence they do anything for eye health.
The biggest study on this (2023 Cochrane review, 17 trials) found zero benefit for eye strain. The American Academy of Ophthalmology doesn't recommend them either.
That tired, dry-eye feeling after hours at the screen? that's from you blinking less and staring at one distance, not the blue light. glasses don't fix it. blinking, breaks, and looking away do.
The study: here
Two videos that break it down well: CBC News , Doctor Eye Health

Safaricom Ethiopia is hiring a fullstack developer
The posting says Enterprise Integration Specialist. Read the actual
description and it's a backend heavy fullstack role. Spring Boot for the
APIs, Angular or React on the frontend, Kubernetes and CI/CD for deploys,
plus tier 2 production support.
2 to 3 years experience, Addis Ababa.
Pay is good, and the benefits beat most places here. Medical cover, plus
subsidized staff loans for a car or a house at rates way under the banks.
If you've been writing Java backends and can hold your own on the
frontend, apply.
