People really think working 8 or 10 hours a day is hard, and yeah, reading, coding, and doing stuff for that long does sound exhausting. But when you think about it, after graduation most people work at least 8 hours a day, and a lot of them still look for extra part-time jobs too.

So while we’re at gbi, we should realize how precious this time is. It’s time we’ll never get back, so it’s better to use it to work on ourselves.

Yooo, I forgot to pause the runs on Paperclip and it burned through like 17M tokens within 4 days😭

The good thing is I kinda saw it coming, so I didn’t use my client’s Claude API key. I connected it to my OpenAI Codex subscription instead and not it is rate limiting me 💀

If I had used my client’s API key, it would’ve cost him like $100.

🚨 URGENT: An Ethiopian Dev is #1 in the World - We Need to Hold the Line! 🇪🇹
Selam devs,
A 24-year-old solo developer from Addis Ababa just beat 10,000 global teams to reach the finals of the Amazon (AWS) AIdeas Challenge.
He built Ivy an offline-capable AI tutor for Ethiopian students on $80 Android phones.
Right now, Ivy is Ranked #1 Globally. But a massive corporate team from India is only 29 votes behind, mobilizing their universities to overtake us tonight.
We cannot let Ethiopia lose this. The US has Silicon Valley. India has Bangalore. Ivy has us.

Guys, some of you have been asking me how to get started on Upwork. Honestly, I don’t have that much experience yet, I’ve only done about 5 or 6 jobs and started around 2 months ago.

Most of my work come through my friend Samuel, a 5th-year student at ASTU, he helped me get jobs through referrals and through his acc.

So I was thinking, maybe I could host a small podcast or casual talk with him here in our channel so we can all learn more together. What do you guys think? React and let me know in the comments 👀

Finally got my client fully satisfied 😮‍💨

Had to do a bunch of workarounds and infra-level changes, even republished the official n8n image to Docker Hub so I could run it my way. After all that refactoring, he loved the system, left me a really good review, and even gave me another project.
Big W honestly.

So story time

Back when I was a freshman, before I knew how to code, I was trying to build this tutorial platform(just an idea) for high school and campus students. Kinda like a mini startup. I wanted to add a bot too, and at the time that felt like straight up magic to me. Like impossible-level hard.

So I hired someone to build it, but he was busy and the work honestly wasn’t that good. At some point I was just like nah, forget it, I’m gonna build this myself. And once I actually learned how to do it… bro it was way easier than I thought.

That’s really the whole point. Even me, someone who’s know some basic computer stuff at the time, used to look at tech products like they were some crazy impossible thing. A lot of business owners see it the same way. To them, this stuff feels super complex and mysterious.

So don’t be scared to reach out, offer your service, and say “yo, I can build this for you.” And yes, charge good money too, because a lot of people are paying for something they genuinely don’t understand how to make themselves.

I opened an issue on the Paperclip GitHub.

I was trying to connect Paperclip to Telegram from a Docker container on a VPS. The flow was straight forward install the Telegram plugin, authenticate the CLI, and continue the setup.

The problem showed up during the auth step inside a headless container (no browser). Paperclip tried to open the auth URL with xdg-open, but that command wasn’t available in the container, so the CLI crashed before the auth flow could finish.

Because of that, it would still fail even if I manually opened the URL, approved it in the browser, and came back to the terminal, the process was already dead.

My temporary workaround was pretty simple, I downloaded the module directly inside the running container first, so I could at least move forward without depending on the failing xdg-open auth flow right away.
