Its impossible to be truly prepared for what is coming. But we can observe how historical peoples survived and learn from what they did.

There's something called the lindy effect. The longer something has been around, the longer it will likely endure into the future. Any custom that has survived thousands of years has proven itself effective no matter how strange or irrational it may seem.

Some things that work well for our people and have survived war, famine, disease and oppression:

- Traditional gender roles. Men hunt, fight and go out into the world working together with other men to make a living. Women cook, clean, keep house and do the all important job of producing and raising children
- Christianity. Submission to God's law and a belief in personal salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ
- Clannish/family oriented behaviour. Loving your own kin and treating them preferentially is the historical norm, as is a suspicion of outsiders
- A simple, natural diet with lots of meat, fruits, veggies and dairy. "Nose to tail" animal consumption including organs and bones
- Houses and implements made from natural materials. Iron, wood, wool, leather, cotton, silk, linen, copper, ceramics, earthenware, stone, glass and straw are lindy. Polyester, plastics, nylon, carbon fibre, resins, fibreglass and Teflon are not. Even concrete is not a traditional building material.
- Spending a lot of time outdoors is lindy
- Raising your own crops and animals, especially chickens, cows, sheep and goats
- Gold and silver as money. No debt, no usury
- Physical training with particular focus on combat arts be that bow, rifle, sword, staff or unarmed combat
- Church on Sundays. Regular prayer and a pious, worshipful attitude


It seems to me the height of arrogance to throw away these proven systems that have worked for thousands of years because "we know better now". If history is any guide, the punishment for such pride will be severe, and will continue until we are adequately humbled.
