🇦🇷🚗 Scores of Argentine tanks, armored vehicles spotted amassing in country’s north
TAM medium tanks, VBTP-MR Guarani 6x6 APCs, Stryker combat vehicles, Oshkosh trucks and other heavy equipment have been spotted getting transported by train across a bridge on the Parana River delta, about ~100 km northwest of Buenos Aires.
👉 The equipment’s ultimate destination is the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, where the two countries are expected to hold the Arandu 2026 joint military drills October 5-18. In all, some ~2.3k troops, 80 armored vehicles and 300 other vehicles are expected to take part.
The drills partly coincide with Brazil’s geopolitical tension-filled presidential and congressional elections, which kicked off on Sunday. A second round is set for October 25 if no presidential or gubernatorial candidate gets a majority in round one.
The drills also come amid renewed tensions between Argentina and the UK over the Malvinas/Falkland Islands.

Het beste nieuws over de verkiezingen in Brazilie lees je weer nergens: dat is dat naast de overwinning van Flavio, in de zogeheten ´down ballot´ verkiezingen voor alle andere posities (gouverneur, senaat, huis van afgevaardigden) Lula en de PT compleet zijn weggevaagd. De vrouw van Jair Bolsonaro alsmede zijn zoon Carlos wonnen een zetel in de senaat en een andere zoon, Renan, een plek in het huis van afgevaardigden. Alle fanatieke Lulisten verloren. Hiermee is er in elk opzicht sprake van een complete machtsovername door de PL, de partij van Bolsonaro. Tevens laat dit zien dat de verkiezingen om het presidentschap met 47% tegen 45% zwaar gemanipuleerd zijn pro-Lula. Het werkelijke beeld was eerder 60% versus 30%.
