THE GRAVE THAT REFUSED TO CLOSE
A man died during the time of Umar (radiallahu anhu). When they tried to bury him, something strange happened - the grave kept caving in.
They dug it wider, deeper, but every time they placed the body, the earth would collapse inward, as if rejecting him.
The people were terrified. They went to Umar (radiallahu anhu) and told him what was happening. Umar (radiallahu anhu) asked them: "Did this man have any unresolved rights with people?"
They investigated and found that the deceased man had borrowed a small amount of money from a widow years ago and never returned it. He kept postponing, saying "I'll pay next month" until he forgot entirely. The widow was too shy to ask repeatedly.
Umar (radiallahu anhu) immediately paid the debt from Baitul Mal. They returned to the grave, and this time the earth accepted him peacefully.
Umar (radiallahu anhu) stood there and said something that shook everyone present:
"The earth is more merciful than humans - it covers our sins. But when you oppress someone and take their rights, even the earth will not hide you."

Felani Still Hangs on the Barbed Wire of History
On this day in 2011, Felani Khatun, a teenage girl from Bangladesh, was shot dead by India’s Border Security Force at the Anantapur border. Her body hung on barbed wire for hours. Not minutes. Hours.
This wasn’t an accident. It was cruelty made normal.

Sh. 'Allämah 'Abdullāh ibn Humayd when speaking about the Sharia'h said:
And the more a person increases in knowledge of it [the Sharīah], the more they increase in respect, reverence, and veneration for it. For this reason, the Şahabah - may Allāh be pleased with them - due to their complete knowledge of it, were the most committed of people to it and the most adherent to its teachings, in both great and small matters.
It is indeed astonishing that most people in these times have turned away from the teachings of this perfect Shariah, [by] replacing it or distorting it with man-made laws that are openly contradictory, clearly unjust, and corrupt in meaning. That is why these laws are often subject to change and alteration - each person believes that he is better than his predecessor and more knowledgeable about benefits and harms than those before him. So he alters and replaces (the laws) according to his opinion. And thus it continues, as long as these systems persist, systems derived from the scraps of thoughts and the refuse of minds
As for the Islamic Sharïah, it is suitable for every time and place. It has remained refined and pure for over fourteen centuries, while still retaining its perfection, suitability, and capacity to preserve all kinds of rights for all classes of people. The most rightly guided of people, the most content in mind, and the most stable in life are those who adhere most strongly to it - whether they are individuals, communities, or governments. This is something known to anyone with a sound and fair intellect, even if they are not among its adherents - rather, even if they are from among its opponents.

Nothing changes if nothing changes. A lot can happen in a year when you find the courage to do the things you know you need to do to grow.
Trust your gut. Make your own mistakes. It's better to try and fail than to not try at all.
The more you let go, the more you can become. And remember— "And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him." (Quran 65:3)

Among the stages of daʿwah upon the methodology of the Prophet [is] erasing the ignorance (jāhiliyyah) of ruling by other than what Allāh has revealed, by calling to the application of the Sharīʿah of Allāh: in the supreme authority, the judiciary, and all facilities of life.
For applying the Sharīʿah in this regard is an act of worship, and worship is not permissible to be directed to other than Allāh, Exalted is He. Thus, appointing man-made laws (taḥkīm al-qawānīn al-waḍʿiyyah) in the judiciary, for example, is shirk with Allāh in His ruling (ḥukmih).
