Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic.

Once Winston Churchill famously said "If Independence is granted to India, power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low calibre and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles."

We have made the predictions of Mr. Churchil wrong. It is a matter of proud that India is one of the most successful democracy in post colonial society. Credit goes to "we the people of India..." since democracy has always been an integral part of Indian society.

How Chinese BRI is loosing its charm?

[1] One of the reasons the BRI’s charms have dimmed is China’s own slowing economy and Beijing’s unwillingness to be as generous with its loans in the second half of the decade, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.

[2] Another is the discomfort in many countries over the terms for the loans, which involve hiring Chinese companies and engaging Chinese workers, while often demanding heavy collateral, as Sri Lanka found out after losing control of the Hambantota port.

[3] The U.S.’s heavy lobbying against the BRI has also had some effect: Italy’s Giorgia Melloni announced in December 2023 that it would not renew the BRI MoU. The Brazilian Foreign Adviser’s statement follows a visit by U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai who asked Brazil to think carefully through an “objective lens” before signing on to the BRI. The remarks raised a protest from the Chinese Embassy in Brasilia which called them “disrespectful” of Brazil’s sovereign right to choose its partners.

Why does Trump want to take over Gaza and could he do it?

[1] American narrative says that redevelopment efforts can be carried out to make the vacated region a seaside paradise in waiting.

[2] However, the move might have come as Trump would want to ensure the USA's military presence in the area so that it could keep Iran and other anti-US forces under check.

[3] Trump, who has been a staunch supporter of Israel, would also like to contribute to getting Israel recognised diplomatically in the region, and the USA's presence in the region will only contribute to the cause.

Why did aap lost Delhi assembly election 2025?

[1] Deviation from basic idea: It has been attributed to the party supremo's “bluster, propaganda” and "shift from the idea of providing an alternative politics".

[2] Dents at image of "Aam Aadmi": The narrative of ‘Sheesh Mahal' has changed Arvind Kejriwal's image of ‘common man’. Also, corruption issues have further harmed the image of "Aam Aadmi".

[3] Internal conflict in AAP: AAP’s declining popularity and internal struggles played a role in its defeat.

[4] Middle class voted for BJP: The ‘great engine’ middle class, which had previously backed the BJP in national elections and AAP in assembly polls, did not return this time.

[5] AAP-Congress rift: The lack of an alliance between AAP and Congress has also been a factor, as in 65 constituencies, Congress candidates' deposits were ‘forfeited’, but they still damaged the AAP. E.g. Kejriwal's margin of defeat and the votes received by Sandeep Dikshit tell the story,” the political commentator added.
