The U.S. Department of Energy declared a temporary power grid emergency for the PJM Interconnection region from October 13 through October 16, 2026, to prevent potential blackouts.
Rolling Blackouts
DOE Order No. 202-26-50 applies to all or parts of the 13 states plus Washington, D.C. that fall within the PJM Interconnection grid network:
•Delaware
•Illinois
•Indiana
•Kentucky
•Maryland
•Michigan
•New Jersey
•North Carolina
•Ohio
•Pennsylvania
•Tennessee
•Virginia
•West Virginia
Areas Under the Most Acute Pressure
While the emergency order covers the entire multistate system, regional grid data highlights specific high-stress zones. The Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Maryland, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina are designated as the areas of primary concern.
Within these zones, major utility networks—including Dominion Energy, PEPCO, and BGE—are coordinating closely with large-scale industrial consumers and data centers to pivot onto backup systems and minimize localized grid strain.

Former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Acting Chair Caroline Pham said the Commodity Exchange Act already gives the agency jurisdiction over nearly everything except onions and movie box office receipts.
"There is very little that the CFTC's jurisdiction doesn't touch because the way that the Commodity Exchange Act is drafted, pretty much everything is a commodity except for onions and movie box office receipts," Pham, now chief legal officer and chief administrative officer at MoonPay, told The Block in an interview at Token2049 Singapore.
Following the failure of the Clarity Act last month, many industry figures have shifted their focus to agency rulemaking, though some continue to push for formal legislation. Pham said the CFTC's regulatory framework is sufficient, as it was designed to be principles-based and flexible enough to cover new types of commodities, citing AI compute as an example.
"Now people are looking at having AI compute markets and being able to put derivatives on AI compute," Pham said. "This is exactly what the CFTC's regulatory framework was designed to anticipate."

TOMORROW, EVERNORTH RINGS THE NASDAQ BELL. 🚨
Evernorth closes out the day on Wall Street's biggest stage to celebrate $XRPN's debut.
For years they said XRP would never make it to Wall Street.
Tomorrow they'll hear it loud and clear.

Here is a Real Life short story that just occurred. You can't make this up!
I just met a @USMC in civilian clothes. He saw my Trump 2028 camo hat and asked "If I trusted Trump." I told him "Yes." He said, "Why?" I said, "The Military asked him to run." He nodded his head and we started talking. Long story short, the Marine confirmed to me in the English language, without skipping a beat, that we are in COG and COOP, we are fighting against ancient bloodlines and systems! When I mentioned technology, he asked where I thought we got it. I told him I had heard optic wiring and plasma touchscreens was reversed from aliens. He confirmed. He, also, pointed out a green bush and said "You see that bush? You see how much different it is than the other ones? That's a bush to you but not to others. That bush can interact with that box over there and another thing over here. It can hear our entire conversation from way over there."
To say the Mil aren't watching might be an understatement currently.😅 I told him as long as it's the Good Guys then I'm cool with it!😂😎
God Bless the Marines and Our Military!🙏🇺🇸🦅

The image shows anti-drone or short-range air defense missile launchers parked on a barge near Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
The vehicles pictured are AN/TWQ-1 Avenger Short-Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems, operated by the U.S. military. They function as a rapid-response, low-altitude defense umbrella to protect high-profile locations or personnel.
1. Intercepting Low-Altitude Aerial Threats
The main turret is equipped with two missile pods that hold up to eight FIM-92 Stinger surface-to-air missiles. These are heat-seeking, fire-and-forget interceptors designed to shoot down:
•Drones and Loitering Munitions: They have been modernized specifically to counter small, low-flying unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
•Helicopters & Low-Flying Aircraft: They can lock onto and destroy low-altitude tactical aircraft or cruise missiles.
2. Close-In Ground and Air Defense
Underneath one of the missile pods, the system is armed with an M3P .50-caliber heavy machine gun. This provides an additional layer of protection, capable of targeting very close-in aerial threats or light ground targets.
3. Integrated Target Tracking
The system features an enclosed, 360-degree rotating turret operated by a crew member. It utilizes an optical sight, forward-looking infrared (FLIR) receiver, and a laser rangefinder to detect, track, and lock onto targets in daylight, total darkness, or poor weather conditions.
4. High Mobility
Because they are mounted on rugged Humvee tactical vehicles, they offer immense deployment flexibility. They can fire while stationary or on the move, and can easily be placed on transport ships or barges—as seen here—to establish an immediate defense perimeter over water where land assets cannot go.

The image shows an official notification from the U.S. Capitol Police on announcing a routine training exercise on the U.S. Capitol grounds on October 18, 2026.
Key Details of the Exercise
Date: Sunday, October 18, 2026
Location: U.S. Capitol grounds in Washington, D.C.
Expected Activity: Emergency vehicles, low-flying helicopters, and simulated gunfire
Advisory: Public and visitors were advised not to be alarmed by the coordinated drill.
Just 16 DAYS before the midterm elections, a major security training exercise is reportedly scheduled for the U.S. CAPITOL on Sunday, October 18.
Low-flying helicopters
Emergency response vehicles
Simulated GUNFIRE
The public is being told not to be alarmed. 👀
Officials describe it as routine training.
And maybe that’s exactly what it is…..or isn’t
But with political tensions running high and one of the most consequential elections approaching, the timing is certainly getting attention.
Recent Large-Scale Interagency Drills
To ensure readiness for high-profile national operations, the USCP frequently partners with federal law enforcement.
Civil Disturbance Scenarios: In September and early October 2026, the USCP partnered with the U.S. Secret Service for the nation's largest scenario-based police drill. Held at the Secret Service training center in Laurel, Maryland, officers navigated simulated riots, drone operations, and specialized mobile command network coordination.
Active Shooter Exercises: The department systematically conducts immersive preparedness drills, transitioning tactical simulations from outdoor areas like the East Front to realistic interior settings inside the Capitol Building itself.
Aviation and Coordinated Mobility: Routine joint exercises with federal and regional partners regularly utilize emergency response vehicles and multiple low-flying tactical helicopters maneuvering over the National Mall and Capitol complex.
