Key Biblical Earthquakes
•Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:18): The earth shook violently and was covered in smoke when God descended upon the mountain to give Moses the Ten Commandments.
•Uzziah's Earthquake (Amos 1:1; Zechariah 14:5): One of the most famous literal earthquakes in the Old Testament, which occurred during the 8th century B.C. and was so memorable it was used by prophets as a chronological and prophetic reference point.
•The Crucifixion (Matthew 27:50-51): An earthquake struck at the moment of Jesus' death, splitting rocks and opening tombs.
•The Resurrection (Matthew 28:2): An earthquake accompanied the descent of an angel who rolled back the stone from Jesus’ tomb.
•Philippi Prison (Acts 16:26): A violent earthquake shook the foundations of a jail, opening the doors and loosening the chains of Paul and Silas.

Prophetic Earthquakes
•The Last Days: Jesus prophesied that "great earthquakes" would be a sign of the "last days" or the "beginning of sorrows". These are recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, Mark 13:8, and Luke 21:11.
•The Book of Revelation: The apocalypse features several cataclysmic, earth-shaking events. Notably, Revelation 16:18 describes the most severe earthquake in human history.

Revelation 6:12
•The Event: Describes the opening of the sixth seal, accompanied by "a great earthquake".
•Cosmic Signs: The sun turns as black as sackcloth and the moon turns blood-red. Stars fall to the earth like shaken figs, and the sky rolls up like a scroll.
•Human Reaction: Kings, commanders, the rich, and the enslaved hide in caves and cry out for the mountains to fall on them to hide them from the wrath of God and the Lamb.

Revelation 16:18
•The Event: Occurs during the outpouring of the ➡️seventh and final bowl of wrath. It brings flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder.
•The Earthquake: It is described as an earthquake unlike any that had occurred since humanity had been on earth—"so great was that earthquake".
•The Consequence: This earthquake is so massive that the "great city" is split into three parts and the cities of the nations collapse, paving the way for the judgment of Babylon.
