The House Ways and Means Committee released a package of six standalone digital asset tax bills and one discussion draft aimed at establishing a comprehensive U.S. crypto tax framework. The legislative drafts target crypto donations, mining and staking income, reporting requirements, tax parity, voluntary disclosure, anti-abuse regulations, and offshore tax shelters.

The legislation aims to address longstanding industry friction, such as "phantom income" by allowing stakers and miners to defer taxation until rewards are sold. The six standalone bills include:

Tax Clarity for Mining and Staking Act (H.R. 9175): Exempts staking and mining rewards from being taxed as ordinary income at the time they are generated, deferring the tax until they are sold.

Less Tax Paperwork for Digital Asset Owners Act (H.R. 9178): Aims to ease tax filing and establishes a de minimis tax exemption for crypto network transaction (gas) fees.

Charitable Deductions for Digital Asset Donations Act (H.R. 9173):Simplifies the rules and lowers the administrative burden for making charitable donations of liquid digital assets.

Digital Assets Voluntary Disclosure Program Act (H.R. 9174): Establishes an IRS safe harbor program for taxpayers dealing with past digital asset reporting errors or failures.

Providing Analogous Rules for Digital Assets Act (H.R. 9176): Aligns the tax treatment of digital assets with traditional financial securities, including the application of wash sale rules.

Applying Existing Tax Anti-Abuse Rules to the Digital Assets Act (H.R. 9172): Modifies existing tax anti-avoidance codes to encompass the digital asset space.

I‘ve flown on Marine One more times than I can remember.

I’ve noticed two very distinct differences between President Trump and President Clinton.

1) on all of our Marine One flights, Clinton never stopped at the cockpit and spent time with the pilots. Never. Trump does.

2) Clinton had a really lousy half-hearted salute and the Marines eventually stopped facing the steps and the president. They faced forward. It’s the little things.

Now, they’re facing Trump and Trump snaps off a sharp, respectful salute.

We are not the same. ❤️
