HUALIEN, Taiwan, July 23 (Reuters) - Financial markets will close and people given the day off work as Typhoon Gaemi barrelled towards Taiwan on Tuesday bringing strong winds and torrential rain, with the annual Han Kuang war games curtailed and emergency equipment readied.
Gaemi, the first typhoon of the season to affect Taiwan, is expected to make landfall on the northeast coast early evening on Wednesday, according to the island's Central Weather Administration.

Some mountainous central and southern Taiwan counties are expected to see total rainfall of up to 1,800 mm (70 inches) during the typhoon, the weather administration said.
The government put more than 1,000 rubber boats on standby for possible flooding across the island, which will see the storm coincide with the annual high tides, and rushed emergency food, water and communications equipment to remote areas.

Government electronic records cannot be trusted. And blockchain technology can remedy that.

Democracy depends on government transparency, and transparency requires the faithful preservation of government records. If those records can be tampered with, altered, or destroyed, then government cannot be accountable to the people. FOIA requests mean nothing if the information obtained is fraudulent.

A couple months ago, emails came to light in which Dr. David Morens, formerly a senior advisor to Dr. Fauci, described seeking help from "our IT folks" and "our FOIA lady how to make emails disappear." We will probably never know what was in those “disappeared” documents.

A similar issue is arising in the investigations into the Secret Service around the July 13 assassination attempt on President Trump. @SenRonJohnson has informed the FBI, DOJ, & DHS that they must preserve and present to the Senate all information relating to the planning & execution of security measures at the July 13 rally in Pennsylvania. But for all we know, this information is already being destroyed, hidden, or altered by these agencies.

Digital records are easy to alter without a trace. In the Orwellian extreme, those with access to records can rewrite history. However, blockchain technology can make records virtually unalterable through a decentralized database, whose nodes are distributed across multiple agencies and multiple branches of government. When I become President I will direct the National Archives and Records Administration to begin moving government records onto a blockchain, and develop protocols to make all government records transparent and all actions accountable. Not only will corrupt officials be unable to hide from FIOA requests — we won’t even need FOIA requests.

Arrests!

Law enforcement officials throughout Houston led a massive operation Tuesday morning that led to multiple arrests, the FBI Houston Division announced Wednesday morning.
To execute what the FBI called “dozens of arrests at multiple locations,” Houston agents partnered with several other departments, including Houston Police Department, Harris County Sheriff’s deputies, US Marshals and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers. FBI tactical teams from New Orleans and San Antonio were also involved in the bust. The enforcement action started before sunrise Wednesday.

A facility at NRG was used to process those detained, the FBI confirmed, but immediate details about how many were taken into custody were not provided.
KPRC 2 photojournalist Cesar Martinez captured one of the arrests related to the enforcement action in the 6700 block of Sands Point Drive.
