🕹 Ticks are dangerous because they transmit many infections, both bacterial and viral, including serious diseases like hemorrhagic fevers, encephalitis, and Lyme disease (borreliosis).

Ticks are most active in forests and wooded areas from mid-spring to mid-summer. During this time, it is important to wear protective clothing when visiting such places to reduce the risk of bites.

If bitten, the tick should be removed carefully with tweezers or a special tool, grasping it as close to the skin as possible and pulling it out slowly without crushing it. The bite area should be cleaned with soap and water and treated with an antiseptic. If the tick’s mouthparts remain in the skin, do not try to dig them out-they usually come out on their own after a few days.

Do not use oil, alcohol, or other liquids, and do not burn the tick, as this increases the risk of infection.

After a tick bite, watch for symptoms of tick-borne diseases for up to two months, as symptoms may appear days or weeks later. If you are in a region where tick-borne encephalitis or other infections are common, take the tick to a laboratory for analysis after removal.
