The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani said that Israel's lack of accountability for its ongoing attacks in the Gaza Strip, despite the ceasefire, is one of the main factors worsening the situation there.
During her answer to journalists' questions about the human rights situation and violations in the besieged Gaza Strip, in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip since October 2023, Shamdasani said that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank has reached catastrophic levels.
She added: "We have witnessed the killing of more than 70,000 people since October 2023, and we have even seen the killing of more than 1,400 people even since the announcement of the ceasefire in October last year."
βThe humanitarian situation is very terrible, and we have seen people dying of hunger, we have seen war crimes and possible crimes against humanity committed.β
