Warnings about the shutdown of the oxygen generation plant at Nasser Medical Complex are escalating due to repeated malfunctions, pressure, and long operating hours, amid the absence of alternatives due to Israeli occupation's restrictions, posing a risk to patients.
Overcrowded shelters and displacement sites across Gaza are becoming breeding grounds for disease.
UNRWA reports a growing spread of skin infections, including scabies, lice, and flea infestations—conditions that can lead to serious complications if left untreated, especially among the most vulnerable.
Even more alarming, infections linked to rodents, such as leptospirosis, can become life-threatening.
These illnesses are treatable.
But in Gaza, essential medicines—including antibiotics—are critically scarce.
This is not just a health issue. It’s a humanitarian emergency.

The director of the "Waed" Association for Prisoners and Liberators, Abdullah Qandil, seriously warned about the catastrophic and inhumane conditions that have escalated brutally against Palestinian detainees in Damon prison, stressing that what is happening inside the dark rooms goes beyond the limits of systematic repression to a policy of "torture and slow killing".
Qandil explained that the "Damon" prison currently houses about 90 detainees, whose sentences are distributed between administrative detention, varying sentences and detainees, pointing out that the health situation represents the most serious priority.
According to Qandil, nearly half of the detainees suffer from chronic diseases, and there are 3 cases of cancer, in addition to cases suffering from diabetes and pressure, while the Israeli occupation prison administration deliberately deprives the infected women of the necessary and appropriate treatment, which directly threatens their lives.
