Heinrich Himmler in youth in military uniform. In 1915 he began training with the Landshut Cadet Corps. His teacher father took advantage of his closeness to the German royal family to enter Himmler as an officer candidate, and he joined the reserve battalion in Bayerischen-Regiment 11 in December 1917. In November 1918, while Himmler was still in training, the war ended quickly so he did not have time to taste the enormity of battle. His last military rank was Fahnenjunker
