Multiple sources have reported a computer outage with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which has resulted in a stop on all departures.
American Airlines and United have both confirmed to passengers waiting for flights that there is a nationwide system outage.

Update 5: Normal air traffic operations are resuming gradually across the U.S. following an overnight outage to the Notice to Air Missions system that provides safety info to flight crews. The ground stop has been lifted.
