WATCH: Uganda's Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Norbert Mao, has been declared winner of the Democratic Party (DP) presidential race after he was voted during the three-day opposition party's 12th national delegates conference held amid chaos and dramatic scenes in Mbarara City, Western Uganda.
Mr Mao, a former presidential contender, has been the party's president general for the last 15 years.
After being declared winner, Mr Mao, who in 2022 signed a cooperation agreement with President Museveni, on June 2 swore to "uphold, preserve, protect and defend the constitution" of his party.
