My favorite line in history is from the movie "Tombstone."

There's a shootout that takes place...

The guy asked Doc Holliday,

"Holy shit, why'd you help him?"

He said, "He's my friend."

Then he told him, "Man, I have a lot of friends."

Doc said, "I don't."

That's my favorite line in any movie ever.

Because Doc Holliday understood that in life, you're going to have only a handful of friends.

Anyone who believes they have more than just a handful probably has none.

True friends are hard to come by.

When you find those true friends, keeping them close is important.

They are the people who will be by your side during the most memorable and challenging times.

Don't turn your back on them.
I love making money with my friends, but it's not the end-all-be-all.

The question I always ask myself with any friendship I have is:

"Are we educating ourselves?"
"Are we working toward financial, physical, and developmental goals?"

If you can't answer yes to most of these questions, it will be hard to keep this friend around you everywhere you go.

The most important thing you need with any friend is the ability to grow together...

Because if you aren't growing, you're dying.

Even if you're making millions of dollars a year and your friend is making $30,000 a year...

It does not matter.

What matters is the exchanged value of growth together and FOR ONE ANOTHER.

As long as your friend is growing alongside you...

He can become a strong ally.

You should be friends with him all the way through.

Money is NOT NEAR the only or even the most important thing;

Growth together is.
People often ask me,

"What should I do to get my first $100,000?"

I tell them, "Friend, that is the wrong question."

The right question is,

"How can I build a monthly system that will spit out $100,000?"

When I was a young man, I always thought,

"Man... If I could save $10,000, I could do x, y, z."

When, in reality, it should have been,

"If I could put a system in place that I can follow daily, I'll be making $10,000, $20,000, or even $30,000 a month."

Alabama's head football coach, Nick Saban, would call this "The Process."

There's a reason why Nick Saban wins championships year after year with new players and coaches.

All because he works on that process so much and tinkers with the gears of his business...

To the point where it spits out winning results every time.

So if you're a young man reading this, trying to make money...

You need to get to 30,000 feet and look at your business.

And look at all the parts that make the system work, which will end up helping you produce the results you want.

Because money is just the result of what was previously done.

Managing the gears and systems of the business will make you money.

Then everything else is accounting.
You guys killed on the last one

Can’t thank you enough.

Please check this out and do the same!
The world doesn't run without guys working in the field.

If construction workers don't turn up at 6 a.m. and get on that roof in the sun...

It doesn't happen.

The one thing we mess up with is forgetting the men who help this world go round.

There will be YouTubers one day who say,

"Hey, the new hack is how to roof."

My general superintendent has been putting buildings up since I was born.

He helps build 200, 300, 400, and 800 thousand square foot buildings.

He's not only helping put up metal buildings, but he's also training the next generation of guys.

What he does is a dying skill.

It's getting harder for a young man to work with his hands today.

Because he gets on Instagram and feels like he's lost.

I push The Real World, and The Real World is one of the best online schools ever to be assembled.

If you want to work on the internet, the Real world is the thing to do.

But if a young man likes to work with his hands...

We need to figure out how to make that respectable in society so he gets the positive feedback he deserves.

I respect all the guys who build the country, and I'll never come off of that.
When you go through enough stressful situations and think,

"I don't think I can get through this,"

and you actually feel freaked out and stressed...

It builds resilience and reminds you that it's not the end of the world.
If you were to ask me, "What is the formula for ensuring my business works?"

I wouldn't be able to provide a straightforward answer.

That's because every day presents new challenges that need solving.

It's almost like trying to get an airplane off the runway while you quickly apply duct tape to keep it from falling apart.

Sometimes, just when you think you've got it off the ground...

BAM!

You crash back onto the runway, and then slowly, you start to regain altitude.

In business, you're constantly addressing a variety of issues.

Most people don't understand that different altitudes come with different sets of challenges.

As you scale, you might encounter problems you've never faced, forcing you to pivot and find solutions.

At times, you might need to maintain a stable altitude until you figure out how to accelerate and reach 30,000 feet in the air.

I've experienced many of these growing pains in the past.

There have been moments when I reached 20,000 feet in the air, only to be slammed back to the ground...

But somehow, I managed to restart the engine and climb once more.

It's an internal struggle everyone involved in business will encounter.

You'll face setbacks...

But they're just part of the game.

The Dark Truth About Entrepreneurship

When people tell you that you've changed,

You should, in the back of your head, remind yourself,

"Well, I sure hope so."

Many times, people don't continue developing;

They expect you to remain the same guy from 15 years ago,

They expect you'll one day be drinking Bud Light on a tailgate and shooting stop signs in the middle of the night.

When you come home and no longer want to do those things, they may think you're being disingenuous.

However, it's important to be loving to these people...

Especially when you tell them,

"No, I'm just trying to take my life in a different direction. I still care about you just as much."

"I'm still the same person, but I have new goals, dreams, and plans for my life."

Understand that the people close to you may often feel threatened by your success.

They aren't bad people.

The most important thing you can do is talk to them so they know you still care about them,

Even though you might not be interested in the past activities, you did with them.

Instead of being mean to them...

Choose to love them and always tell the truth.
The more money I make…

The more I look at money as a tool.

I blow money and am disrespectful to it sometimes.

But I’m also very respectful of it.

Let’s say something is more expensive but FASTER.

I’ll spend the extra $2-3 grand to get a shit load of things DONE.

Because firing the gun FAST matters more to me.

The more you think about getting something done, the higher it will cost you.

When you have extra income…

You can afford to miss a couple of bullets.

Because you already have a tank full of extra bullets ready to fire.

And miss from time to time.

But without taking the first shot

You’ll never truly know what you could’ve accomplished.

We all have development in front of us.

All of us are human.

I'm working my ass off just like you guys.

I have things that I am constantly on myself about making better, stronger, and more refined.

Things I want to work on and continue working on.

There are things that I'm trying to get competent on every day.

It's NEVER over.

Whether you're a regular guy or a high-level guy...

There will be something about yourself that you don't like that you want to make better.

Myself included.

Just understand that it's all part of the ride.

The journey to becoming a complete man is NEVER over.

Your goal is to relentlessly develop everything possible to be as complete as possible.

That is going to be a struggle all the way through.

For any of you guys that think you're "normal."

Even when you become "great," there will be something about you that you will still want to work on...

Or something you never wish you did, but you still do.

Just understand that and have a bit of forgiveness for yourself.

Your job is to push the man in the mirror forward.

Not to hate him or live in regret.
Discipline is important, but it’s not used in the way others would have you believe.

Yes, it takes discipline to go to the gym.

Yes, it takes discipline to get up and go to work.

Yes, it takes discipline to show up.

However, discipline is not an unlimited natural resource.

It’s a match that lights a flame...

You use discipline early on to create consistency for a certain amount of time…

Then, you see progress.

THEN…You start really enjoying the progress.

Eventually, it becomes a habit that you want to do every day.

Without thinking or having a hard internal conversation with yourself.

I call that positive momentum.

It’s a feeling you get once you get out of bed and immediately want to start working.

Everyone you see who is world-class in what they do has it.

Once positive momentum is created, discipline is used to build the next neural pathway or positive habit.

Moving forward, working hard becomes a part of your identity.

It’s part of you.

And most importantly...

An identity you’re proud of...

And identity that you enjoy being labeled as.
If you're scared, get excited about it...

Because you're growing.

Tim Ferris has this one thing called "fear setting."

It's where you sit down and play out the ABSOLUTE WORST outcome your situation could have.

Then ask yourself,

"Ok, this happened. I was embarrassed, and I'm going to be embarrassed."

"What's the worst that can happen?"

As you continuously break it down in your head…

You conclude it's not that bad if you make a mistake.

Nothing terrible is going to happen except the fact that you're going to grow.

It might take a couple of fuck ups where you crash and burn…

But before you know it, you will eventually knock one out of the park.

Whatever you're about to do that you're scared of is brave.

Don't give a shit.

Go in there with swag, make sure you're super prepared.

If you expect to mess it up, you might accidentally not mess it up.

Go kill it.

If you don’t… fuck it.

Go kill the next one.
