A man isn’t a success because other people say he is. A long list of academic, political, or business achievements isn’t essentially the definition of success. That a person is famous and celebrated by men doesn’t mean he or she is a success before God. A successful life, one that pleases God, is that which achieves those things that God has called the person to do.

Thus, the first thing is to know what God has called you to do. There’re people that are praised in this world and acclaimed to be successful, who will eventually end up in hell. Some are already there. It doesn’t matter what anyone says about you, the only one who matters is the one who made you. He’s the one who knew the purpose for which you were born. So, don’t live your life to the applause of men. Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37). He also said, “…for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God” (Luke 16:15)

What do you esteem in your life? What are the things that are important to you? What drives you? What are you passionate about? Until, and unless those things are the same things that God considers important, things of Kingdom and eternal value, they’re useless. Don’t run in vain; don’t put your efforts in the wrong things. Don’t seek to please men; do all things with only one goal in mind: to please the Lord Jesus and be a success for Him.

God wants us to be successful according to His definition of success, not according to man’s standards. He wants us to have a great life; He wants us to do excellently well; He wants us to be productive in our lives; producing results that glorify Him. And we can only do this by the power of God’s Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, no matter what you do, it’ll be empty. True success is by the Spirit and in fulfilling God’s call, plan and purpose for your life.

LET’S TALK⏩
What we read in our opening verse lets us know that, in Christianity, we run to win and obtain the prize. We’re likened to sportsmen: “Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither. Therefore I do not run uncertainly (without definite aim). I do not box like one beating the air and striking without an adversary” (1 Corinthians 9:25–26 AMPC).

The Bible shows you what to do to be at the top of your game: become temperate in all things; exercise self control. Like an athlete, there’re things you should do and there’re things you shouldn’t, just so you can keep in form. Those athletes do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we do ours for an incorruptible crown. Hallelujah.

𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 "𝗛𝗦𝗟𝗛𝗦" 𝗦𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦

Notice what He says in the twenty-seventh verse: “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified” (1 Corinthians 9:27). He instructs us to do everything to win, but according to the rules, so you’re not disqualified. Don’t run to miss the prize; run to win it!

And as you run your race, and fulfil your ministry in the Gospel, lay aside every weight (Hebrews 12:1-2). Don’t let sin be an encumbrance in your life. Refuse to allow anything to take your focus off the Master. Remain steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58).

In the Old Testament, the children of Israel transported the presence of God from place to place every time they carried the Tabernacle of Witness, which contained the Ark of the Covenant.

In 1 Kings 8:9, the Bible tells us specifically that, “There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.” The only thing in the ark was God’s commandments.

Today, your heart is the ark of God; that’s where the Word is. Remember what the Lord said in Jeremiah 31:33: “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” This was fulfilled in us when we were born again.

𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 "𝗛𝗦𝗟𝗛𝗦" 𝗦𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦

We were born again by the Word of God and have become one with the Word; we’re living epistles, “...written, not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone but in fleshy tables of the heart” (2 Corinthians 3:3). Blessed be God!

You’re now the living ark of testimony and the tabernacle of His presence, “…for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people” (2 Corinthians 6:16). He dwells in you now. His hands are in your hands, and His legs are in your legs. He walks in you and talks through you.

Where you go, God goes. You’re in Him and He’s in you! Not only are you now in the presence of God, you carry the presence of God. Every time you show up, you come with the presence of God. No wonder the Bible says in Colossians 1:27, “...Christ in you, the hope of glory!”

Dans l’Ancien Testament, les enfants d’Israël
transportaient la présence de Dieu d’un endroit à l’autre à chaque fois qu’ils portaient le Temple du Témoin, qui contenait l’Arche d’Alliance.

Dans 1 Rois 8:9, la Bible nous dit spécifiquement: « Il n’y avait rien dans l’arche, sauf les deux tables de pierre que Moïse y avait placées à Horeb, lorsque l’Éternel fit alliance avec les enfants d’Israël, lorsqu’ils arrivèrent hors du pays d’Égypte ». La seule chose dans l’arche étaient les commandements de Dieu!

Aujourd’hui, votre cœur est l’arche de Dieu; c’est là que se trouve la Parole. Rappelez-vous ce que le Seigneur a dit dans Jérémie 31:33: « Mais voici l’alliance que je traiterai avec la maison d’Israël: après ces jours-là, dit l'Éternel, je mettrai ma loi dans leurs entrailles, et je l'écrirai dans leurs cœurs; et Je serai leur Dieu, et ils seront mon peuple». Cela s’est accompli en nous lorsque nous sommes nés de nouveau.

Nous sommes nés de nouveau par la Parole de Dieu et sommes devenus un avec la Parole; nous sommes des épîtres vivantes, « écrites, non avec de l'encre, mais avec l'Esprit du Dieu vivant, non sur des tables de pierre, mais sur des tables charnelles du cœur ». (2 Corinthiens 3:3). Béni soit Dieu!

Vous êtes maintenant l'arche vivante du témoignage et le temple de Sa présence. « …car vous êtes le temple du
Dieu vivant; comme Dieu l'a dit, j'habiterai en eux et j'y marcherai; et je serai leur Dieu, et ils seront mon peuple» (2 Corinthiens 6:16). Il habite en vous maintenant. Ses mains
sont dans vos mains et Ses jambes sont dans vos jambes. Il marche en vous et parle à travers vous.

Où que vous alliez, Dieu va. Vous êtes en Lui et Il est en vous! Non seulement vous êtes maintenant en présence de Dieu, mais vous portez la présence de Dieu. Chaque fois que vous vous présentez, vous venez avec la présence de Dieu. Il n’est pas étonnant que la Bible dise dans Colossiens 1:26: « Le Christ en vous, l’espérance de la gloire!»
