Did you know that one letter can be both consotant and vowel?

Guess which and leave your comments below 👇

#YoudBetterNotGoogle🚫
In the land of letters, where vowels and consonants roam,
There's a tricky little fellow named "y" who likes to call both places home.
Is he a consonant, you might ponder and stew?
Or perhaps, a vowel, shining bright and true?

Well, dear friends, the answer isn't always clear,
But worry not, for I'm here to steer!
When "y" stands at the start of a word, oh so bold,
It usually acts as a consonant, I'm told.

Yet, when nestled in the midst of a word's embrace,
"Y" often takes on a vowel's grace.
In words like "cry" and "sky" it sings a melodic tune,
As a vowel, it dances beneath the shining moon.

So, dear readers, whether consonant or vowel "y" may be,
In the alphabet's grand symphony, it plays a key.
Remember this rule, both simple and sweet,
And with "y" in your words, you'll surely compete
!

Portmanteau word is where parts of two or more words are combined to form a new word with a shared meaning.

🌵This term originates from the French word "portemanteau," meaning a large suitcase with two compartments. In the context of language, it essentially packs the meanings of two words into one.

One classic example is "turducken," which combines the words "turkey," "duck," and "chicken." In culinary terms, a turducken is a dish consisting of a deboned chicken stuffed into a deboned duck, which is then stuffed into a deboned turkey (you may wanna google its picture 🤤)

Now, onto the question: what do you think of the parts of the portmanteau word "pleather"?

📌Your ultimate guide to part 2 in speaking:

Be a good storyteller

Question: Describe a book you've read many times

Instead of giving some cliché responses like "I read book because it was interesting and informative", talk about the time you actually read the book, for example.

Give time and place to your story so that the listener can vividly imagine what you're describing.

Think outside the box. If you wanna get a stand-out score, then stand out among others. The combination of teeny-tiny changes, like location or atmosphere, can make your story seem to be rather special and appealing.

Use plot-twisters. In movies or novels, initially, there are some characters everyone hates. Towards the end of the story, you may not even notice how and when you started liking that bad character, right? Do the same thing. Let the negative be changed by the positive, or vice versa. You, for example, may have thought that the book was quite boring and irrelevant, yet you ended reading a lot because your first impression was far from reality.

Change the way you introduce the topic (optional):

👥What many say
: I'm actually a bookworm and now I'm going to talk about the book I've read couple of times.

🤓What I say: I remember the time I entered a cafe near my uni, where I was a close from of mine. She was sitting with a book on her hand. I approached and sat in front of her. To my surprise, she was so engaged in the book that she didn't even notice me. And I wanted to know more about the book that could brought her on its own world.

Too long? Maybe. Yet I'm not only introducing the topic but also showing how found out about the book. And my friend's engagement in the book shows that it was worth to read again and again (let the listener predict what's going to come next).

🤫Manipulate the topic with use of vocabulary. You know good vocabulary about fashion? Connect fashion with your main topic. Maybe the book you've read many times was about fashion?

‼️Whatever story you tell, the accurate use of the language should come first.
