The people of Hong Kong felt simultaneously proud of their Chinese heritage and their unique Hong Kong identity. 30年來，我都係坐喺你哋中間，從來都冇上過呢一個台，我其實唔習慣上街遊行，唔習慣叫口號，但係今日要站上呢個舞台，係因為一國兩制已經接近蕩然無存。30年前天安門嘅民主運動啟蒙咗一整代嘅人去追求民主自由，亦啟發左之後嘅雨傘運動。今日，我哋聚集一齊就係想要阻止30年前喺天安門廣場屠殺人民嘅巨獸，跑到落嚟金鐘廣場，旺角廣場，維多利亞廣場，我哋就係要阻止呢隻巨獸喺未來嘅30年繼續肆意咁消滅我哋嘅下一代。
我唔係一個愛國者；好似John Lennon嘅歌一樣，我Imagine 夢想中嘅國度係一個冇國界、冇宗教、冇種族嘅國度，所以我哋一年一年咁返到嚟維園———其實就好似德國人不斷提醒自己唔好再重蹈覆轍，犯下納粹德國嘅大錯，我哋要提醒我哋自己，提醒掌權者，原來「我們與惡的距離」是咁接近的。
