有網民發起今日到多個商場進行「和你 SHOP 蒙面日」行動，其中有警員進入大埔超級城拘捕至少 3 人。《立場新聞》記者採訪期間被警員截查，要求出示身份證，並將身份證故意在直播鏡頭前展示大約 40 秒，更一度將身份證擺近鏡頭前，明顯想清晰公開記者身份證上的個人資料。有律師批評警方做法沒有法律依據，是違反《個人資料（私隱）條例》，沒有盡資料收集人的責任。

《立場新聞》記者採訪期間，追問在場持伸縮警棍的人士是否便衣警察，及後該名便衣警員及防暴警察與記者發生口角，多次以粗言穢語辱罵記者，及要求記者進入封鎖線範圍，確認其記者身份，及要求出示身份證。
截查期間，便衣警員警告記者「再唔合作我就拉你」，然後在直播鏡頭前展示記者的立法會記者證及記協記者證，記者已即時向警員表示「唔好係鏡頭面前展示啦。」惟該名便衣警員再將記者的身份證在直播鏡頭前展示約 40 秒，期間更刻意將身份證擺近鏡頭方向前，明顯想更清晰地公開記者個人資料。
記者立即批評警員做法是違反《個人資料（私隱）條例》，但有警員則反駁「機係你自己選擇㩒，部機係你開，」亦有警員稱「機係你，開機又係你，你話人哋錄你？」便衣警員將身份證還給記者後，傳媒聯絡的警員要求記者離開商場。
法律界選委、律師黃國桐認為，警察做法是百分之一百沒有法律依據，強調警方做法「從頭到尾都冇權力咁做，與拘補、檢查、截查係拉唔上關係，如果有任何損失賠償係可以告佢。」黃國桐指，警方做法是違反《個人資料（私隱）條例》，建議應立即向私隱專員公署投訴，相信公署會作出譴責，且會將個案直接轉介至監警會。
黃國桐解釋，警員是有權查看身份證，及收集身份證的資料，但由於涉及個人資料，因此必須謹慎保管，慎防資料外洩，但刻意將別人身份證展現在直播鏡頭前，則是完全違反收集人的責任。被問及警方指問題源於記者開機拍攝，黃則反駁「例如很多市民在行人路上旁觀，如果警察一直舉起身份證俾全世界睇，係咪就要市民閤埋隻眼？」

The HK government has responded to media reports saying that Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong. had invited religious and faith leaders across the UK to sign a letter (http://bit.ly/35UynPC) to urge the UK government to ensure the lives and freedoms of Hong Kong people are protected.
"The fact is that freedoms and rights here have by no means been eroded at all in recent months."
"It also objected to the organisation’s remarks that the people of Hong Kong have endured suppression of their basic freedoms and human rights in their fight for justice and democracy and that they have been routinely subjected to police brutality and state repression in the last six months. These accusations are groundless, insulting and malicious, it said, adding that nothing could be further from the truth."
