A Chinese study found that watching short videos like TikTok and Reels daily for two months can change the brain. Researchers studied 111 students who watched for 95 minutes a day.
Results showed reduced gray matter in the brain, leading to worse focus—students could concentrate for only 47 seconds instead of 2.5 minutes. Sleep also suffered: 30% had poorer sleep, and 50% developed insomnia.
Experts warn that too much short content may harm thinking and attention. They suggest balancing it with longer videos—and maybe even adding a warning: “This video may damage your brain.”
