“Russia suffers from a trust deficit in northeast Syria”
Russian forces increasingly face rejection by the local population in northeast Syria as they attempt to expand their military presence in that part of the war-torn country, local sources said.
Last week, Russian military convoy arrived in village near Syria’s border with Turkey where Russian officers expressed their desire to set up a military outpost.
“About 12 Russian armored vehicles arrived in our village last Friday,” said Osman Khalil, a local. “Over 200 residents of our village quickly gathered and headed to where the Russians were.”
Russian commander told us they wanted to build an outpost in the village for our protection. We simply told them that we didn’t want their protection and that we didn’t trust Russians.” “We told them if they didn’t leave, we would throw stones at their vehicles.”

🔸On Tuesday, Syrian Observatory reported the arrival of additional weaponry at Qamishli airport destined for Russian forces in northeast Syria.
🔹After that, as expected, began bombing, widely advertised by almost all Russian military channels
🔻Then - as one would expect - protests followed in the northern regions bombed by Russian aviation. Exactly for anniversary of Assad....
Russia knows how to shoot itself (and its allies) in the foot! 👍

🔸Во вторник Сирийская обсерватория сообщила о прибытии в аэропорт Камышлы дополнительного вооружения, предназначенного для войск РФ на северо-востоке Сирии.
🔹После чего вполне ожидаемо начались бомбежки, широко разрекламированные практически всеми российскими военными каналами как небывалый подвиг по защите [чужой] родины
🔻Дальше — как и следовало ожидать — последовали протесты в раздолбанных рос авиацией северных районах. Аккурат к юбилею Асада....
