The war between Iran and Israel has increased China’s interest in building Russia’s “Power of Siberia-2” gas pipeline, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing to people close to Beijing’s decision-making.

With Beijing no longer confident in the reliability of gas and oil supplies from the Middle East, China is now considering alternative options.

➡️ China imports about 30% of its gas as liquefied natural gas from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates via the Strait of Hormuz—a maritime route that Iran has threatened to block, as reported by consulting firm Rystad Energy. At the same time, independent Chinese refineries, known as “teapots,” have in recent years become heavily dependent on cheap Iranian crude oil.

⏺Analysts note that over 90% of Iranian oil exports now go to China (even though the U.S. has imposed sanctions aimed at preventing Iran’s oil exports), especially after Trump’s recent shocking statement that China may continue to buy oil from Iran.

🔴 In addition to the current turmoil in the Persian Gulf, the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China in recent months has halted U.S. LNG exports to China, wiping out years of growth in energy trade between the two countries.

🚨🇮🇷🇺🇸 #Iran is demanding the #US compensate for damage caused by airstrikes on its territory, Iranian news agencies Mehr and Tasnim report, citing an official statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

In an interview with Al Mayadeen TV, Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said Washington must compensate Iran for damaging its facilities.

🔴 Tehran intends to file an official complaint about this to the #UN.

"The US must pay for the damage caused to Iranian facilities," Khatibzadeh said.
He didn't specify the exact amount of damage, but preliminary estimates say that the Natanz facility alone cost Iran more than $5 billion.

Khatibzadeh also stressed that Rafael Grossi, the IAEA Director General, should be held accountable:
“He played a regrettable role in provoking this conflict.”

➡️ In turn, another Iranian official, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, said that the attacks dealt a serious blow not only to infrastructure but also to diplomatic efforts.

“Our nuclear installations were badly damaged, that’s for sure, because they came under attack by Israeli and American aggressors,” Baghaei told Al Jazeera.

➡️ The strikes, Baghaei said, caused “a detrimental blow” to international law, ethics, and diplomacy.
“I have nothing to add on this issue because it’s a matter of technical issue,” he went on, noting that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and other relevant agencies are addressing it, stressing that the country’s top priority is national security, and Iran will have to see if the U.S. is “really serious” about diplomacy before resuming engagement.

“While they [US officials] have been talking about diplomacy, they greenlighted the Israelis to attack Iran,” said Baghaei, asking how that could allow “any trust” to remain.
“They [the US] torpedoed diplomacy,” he went on.

Iran ‘suffered a lot’ from war, but stood ‘resolute’, Baghaei said

While Iranian people “suffered a lot” from the war, they stood firmly against attacks from the US and Israel, he told Al Jazeera.

“That’s war crimes, crimes against humanity and they [Israel] have to be held accountable.

But the point is our people showed they are resolute in their defence of national security and sovereignty,” he added.

⏺Odd, but from all this Bloomberg, Associated Press, ABC News made only one conclusion: that Iranian nuclear facilities were “severely damaged” as a result of US strikes.

Nuclear winter would result in the severe, long-lasting global cooling that could happen after a large-scale nuclear war in which many cities are hit by nuclear bombs, those explosions would cause huge fires, burning buildings, forests and everything around.

The smoke and soot from these fires would rise high into the sky, into a part of the atmosphere called the stratosphere, where it can stay for years because rain can't wash it away.

This thick layer of soot would block sunlight from reaching the Earth's surface, like a giant shade over the planet.

With less sunlight, the Earth would get much colder. The temperatures in the US would plunge by roughly 40 degrees Fahrenheit, making farming impossible.

This cold and darkness would lead to massive food shortages and starvation. Animals and fish would also struggle to survive, making food even scarcer.

The rest of the world (the remaining 3 billion who are lucky enough to survive) will be plunged into radiation, hunger and an underground existence.
