"As for president Assad's whereabouts, I've got nothing to tell you," Peskov said, adding, "What happened has surprised the whole world and, in this case, we are no exception."

Peskov also confirmed that no meeting between Putin and Assad is currently scheduled.

По данным FT, с 2013 по 2019 члены сирийского клана Маклуф, в т.ч. несколько двоюродных братьев Асада и их жены, купили не менее 20 квартир в российской столице на общую сумму свыше $40 млн.
18 из них — в элитном комплексе «Город Столиц», еще одна — в башне «Федерация».

Площадь самых маленьких апартаментов — 102 кв. м, самых больших — 1243 кв. м.

Еще одну трехкомнатную квартиру в нескольких минутах от «Города столиц» член клана Асадов, Хафиз Маклуф, купил в 2015
Для проведения сделок использовались офшорные компании.

Основная часть покупок была сделана всего через год после военного вмешательства Москвы. 16 сентября 2016 три зарегистрированные в РФ компании Хафеза — Artemis, Bellona и Khestia — приобрели еще 11 квартир общей площадью 2112 кв.м, между 61-м и 65-м этажами 73-этажного здания
