“Talks should be based on guarantees,” said Roman Kostenko, the chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament’s Defense and Intelligence Committee. “For Ukraine, nothing is more important.”

Another senior Ukrainian official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive negotiations, was more direct.

“The territorial question is extremely important, but it’s still the second question.The first question is security guarantees.”

President Volodymyr Zelensky, discussing a cease-fire, said:

“Everyone understands that no matter what path we take, legally no one will recognize the occupied territories as belonging to other countries.”

📌Kyiv have been seeking membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as a guarantee against renewed attacks from Russia. Western officials have signaled they also want Ukraine to join NATO, but not on any kind of accelerated timetable.

⚡️Former Trump National Security Adviser John Bolton calls for FBI investigations before Gaetz, Gabbard confirmations, — The Hill

“I don’t think either Gabbard or Matt Gaetz ought to have a confirmation hearing until they have both had full-field FBI investigations,” Bolton told. “Given the Russian propaganda that she has espoused over the past period of time, I think she’s a serious threat to our national security.”

“With his announcement of Tulsi Gabbard to be the director of national intelligence, he [Trump] is sending a signal that we have lost our mind when it comes to collecting intelligence,” Bolton said when asked about the message he thinks Trump is trying to send to China.

“Up until a few hours ago, I would have said that was the worst Cabinet appointment in recent American history. Of course, since Matt Gaetz’s nomination, he clearly has taken the lead on that score,”

Bolton added sarcastically.

Bolton recalled an interview Gabbard gave in January 2020 after Congress was briefed on the Trump-directed assassination of Qassem Soleimani, the former head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force.
Gabbard said in the 2020 interview that she was “concerned about the illegal and unconstitutional act of war that had been carried out under President Trump’s orders.”
