🇺🇸🇬🇷🇷🇺🇺🇦 According to Flightradar24, on June 30, one of two US Air Force WC-135R "Nuclear Sniffer" special aircraft — a specialized version of the WC-135R Constant Phoenix aircraft, — landed at the Chania airbase in Crete, designed to take atmospheric air samples and detect radioactive emissions.
This is a WC-135 (airborne 64-14836, call sign WINDSR01) from the 55th Wing of the US Air Force
The arrival is allegedly linked to "new security concerns" at the Russian-occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, from which the Russians must leave before July 5.
Such monitoring is carried out constantly around the world. However, the Russians are worried that it's from this base that US reconnaissance UAVs RQ-4B Global Hawk and RC-135W Rivet Joint aircraft take off to patrol the Black Sea region.
This is a WC-135 (airborne 64-14836, call sign WINDSR01) from the 55th Wing of the US Air Force
