🇺🇸🇴🇲🇶🇦🇺🇦 The Pentagon and #NATO are talking with a "a couple of Middle Eastern countries" to transfer #NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine over the next 3-6 months
Raytheon declined to name the Middle Eastern countries that would send the system, but purchasers in the region are #Oman and #Qatar, according to Defense Security Cooperation Agency records.
▪️It takes two years to build NASAMS because of the lead time required to buy electronic components and rocket motors, CEO Greg Hayes said.
One might add that if China takes over Taiwan, even more time (and money) will be required.
▪️Even if the Pentagon manages to negotiate with Qatar, the Biden administration else would have to approve the arrangement to transfer the air defense systems to Ukraine, because these systems have a longer range than other air defense equipment Western countries have sent to Ukraine

▪️По словам генерального директора Raytheon Technologies Грега Хейса, "на создание NASAMS уходит два года из-за времени, необходимого для покупки электронных компонентов и ракетных двигателей".
Можно добавить, что если Китай захватит Тайвань, времени (и денег) будет уходить еще больше.
▪️Даже если Пентагону удастся договориться, администрация Байдена должна будет еще одобрить договоренность о передаче систем ПВО Украине, т.к. эти системы имеют большую дальность действия, чем другие отправленные союзниками средства ПВО.
И вот тут, как обычно, начнутся пляски с бубном насчет "нерасширения конфликта".
Raytheon declined to name the Middle Eastern countries that would send the system, but purchasers in the region are #Oman and #Qatar, according to Defense Security Cooperation Agency records.
▪️It takes two years to build NASAMS because of the lead time required to buy electronic components and rocket motors, CEO Greg Hayes said.
One might add that if China takes over Taiwan, even more time (and money) will be required.
▪️Even if the Pentagon manages to negotiate with Qatar, the Biden administration else would have to approve the arrangement to transfer the air defense systems to Ukraine, because these systems have a longer range than other air defense equipment Western countries have sent to Ukraine
And here, as usual, dancing with a tambourine about "non-expansion of the conflict" will begin.
